Best Frozen Foods To Try At Trader Joe’s
Sometimes you just don’t want to make dinner, and reach for frozen foods instead. Trader Joe’s is home to tons of snacks, already made salads and wraps, lots of cheeses, and delicious frozen foods. They have so many options to choose from when it comes to deciding what kind of cuisine you want as a snack, or for a meal. And, Trader Joe’s frozen foods definitely don’t disappoint, when it comes to being affordable and tasting good – here’s some of their best frozen items you should try if you haven’t already!
1. Vegetable Fried Rice
Trader Joe’s vegetable fried rice tastes great on its own or paired with a side dish for dinner. It is salty, filling, and tastes just as good as takeout fried rice. It takes a super short time to prepare on the stove, and is one of their best frozen rice meals. Their fried rice is also available with chicken as well!
2. Roasted Potatoes With Peppers & Onions
Don’t feel like cutting up your own potatoes and cooking them? Me neither. Trader’s Joe’s roasted potatoes have you covered when you know that potatoes would make a great side to your grilled chicken, burger on the grill, or with your scrambled eggs for breakfast. Add some salt, pepper, olive oil, and maybe some garlic if you’re looking to eat them with your dinner, or try a dipping sauce on the side if you don’t like eating potatoes plain. Cooking some of these frozen roasted potatoes with peppers and onions can save you lots of time if you’re craving potatoes with your meal!
3. Mac And Cheese Bites
If I ever see mac and cheese bites on a menu, I have to order them. If you love mac and cheese, and want a snack that is somewhat similar to them but isn’t a bowl of pasta – try Trader Joe’s mac and cheese bites. Sometimes we crave pasta but don’t want to make a box of Annie’s Mac And Cheese or have the time to make it from scratch. Mac and cheese bites make for a great, easy frozen snack to pop in the oven and enjoy. They give you the taste of a bowl of mac and cheese while also giving you the crisp on the outside like a mozzarella stick. Add a dipping sauce on the side or a little bit of hot sauce for some extra flavor!
4. Cold Brew Latte Dessert Bars
If you’re a fan of coffee, especially cold brew, give these a try next time you’re frozen food shopping. Instead of having a cappuccino for dessert, or your usual go-to dessert, try one of these popsicle dessert bars that take a twist on coffee flavored ice cream. I never really thought of popsicles as anything besides fruit flavored until I tried these. They’re definitely different from your regular ice cream bar, but can be a great snack to cool you down or to have after dinner.
5. Asparagus Risotto
In my opinion, risotto always sounds good. But, to be honest, I’m not even really sure how to make it from scratch. Luckily, my local grocery store, Trader Joe’s has it as one of their frozen foods. It makes for a simple, stove-top dinner. Also, if you have never tried risotto, and have wanted to, and enjoy asparagus, it is worth trying next time you go grocery shopping. If you have never tried asparagus either and want to, it tastes absolutely great being mixed in with risotto!
6. Hatch Chile Mac And Cheese
Out of all the frozen mac and cheeses Trader Joe’s has, this one has to be my favorite. It is the perfect mix of cheese and spice. It makes for a warm meal when you don’t feel like cooking, and also takes a spin on your normal box of mac and cheese. Add a little black pepper and crushed red pepper if you like extra spice!
7. Organic Tomato Mozzarella Piccolo Pizza
You can’t really go wrong with frozen pizza, unless of course it burns in the oven. But, if you want a variety of frozen pizzas – go to Trader Joe’s. The tomato mozzarella piccolo pizza is delicious, full of tomatoes (of course), super cheesy, and also, organic. It may not look like your typical circular pizza, but it’s just as good.
8. Burrata, Prosciutto & Arugula Flatbread
Yes, another frozen pizza. But, can we talk about how this one has burrata? If you are looking to try a new food other than pepperoni or plain cheese pizza, this is a flatbread you should definitely grab at Trader Joe’s. It tastes just as good as a flatbread you’d love at your favorite pizza restaurant and takes a spin on your classic pizza ingredients.
9. Mochi
I discovered mini mochi ice cream at Trader Joe’s last year and I have continued buying them since. Sick of eating ice cream? Try mochi next time. Mochi is made from a rice dough on the outside, making the snack into a round ball and is filled with ice cream on the inside. These make for a refreshing, small snack and come in different flavors at Trader Joe’s such as green tea and coffee.
10. Stacked Eggplant Parmesan
Homemade eggplant parmesan can take a while to make. It also is not offered on every restaurant menu (although it totally should be.) But, if you’re a fan of eggplant parmesan, Trader’s Joe’s is the way to go if you’re shopping for a frozen one. During the winter I crave chicken parmesan and eggplant parmesan, but find that cooking one or the other can be a little time consuming. This frozen eggplant parmesan is crispy, has thin pieces of eggplant, cheesy, and doesn’t even need any spices added to it. It makes for the perfect comfort food to enjoy on a cold night, or anytime of year.
