The fall season is here! Want to see the leaves fall? See the sites in cool weather? Here are 12 fall travel destinations for 2018.
Known for its natural beauty, the entire state experiences beautiful fall foliage once the fall season rolls around. After a number of beautiful scenic drives, you could head to Arcadia National Park; see some mountains, do some kayaking. A great fall travel destination for 2018.
The City By The Bay. Creative cuisine, wild artworks, and cafes everywhere you look. While some might find it a little ‘nippy’ as the days slowly, but surely, get colder, they’ll still have plenty of sights to see and adventures to have. And the famous cable car, of course.
In the summer, the Grand Canyon experiences hot temperatures and hundreds of visitors. Meanwhile, in the fall, the air cools and the crowds diminish. While the North Rim trail is probably closed by now, there are still great views to be seen here, earning its position as a fall travel destination for 2018.
The second of three parks to earn its spot on this list, Yellowstone is here for two reasons. The first is the obvious Old Faithful Geyser. While it will still be crowded, but not as much during the summer, it is still a requirement every time you visit this place. The second reason? Less tourists.

A fall travel destination for 2018 that you might not consider would be going all the way to Vancouver, and here’s the reason why: hotel rates take a nosedive. With the Vancouver Film Festival and the Halloween Parade & Expo. to fill your schedule, it’s a great deal to jump on.
It’s around this time of year that the largest state fair in the country happens. Oct. 13, less than a week away by the time I’m writing this article. In addition, there’s the famous Pumpkin Village Display, showing off over 900,000 fall vegetables.
Like with many other locales on this list, the traditional summer tourists empty out of the country’s capital by the time the fall season rolls around, leaving you and the other fall tourists to swoop in and take advantage of the cool air, less expensive fall-rates on hotels, and far less packed museums.
The third, and final, park on this list, Yosemite National Park isn’t as popular as the other two parks, and that’s a shame. While it doesn’t have as much fall foliage as Yellowstone, but the crowds and temperatures are much more manageable. While the perfect time to visit it was last month, you can still go know. Just be careful, as the farther into fall we go, the more you ask certain parts of the park being closed by snow.
Most would balk at visiting New Mexico in the summer, but now that fall has rolled around, it’s the perfect time to sample the rich culture the city can provide, and witness the beautiful skies and sunsets over the natural scenery. This is one of the best fall travel destinations!
This one is all about the fall leaves. While some of the other entries on this list can perfectly satisfy your desire to see fall foliage, (I’m sure I’ve written a list about this before…), Boston is one of the best for that, king it a great fall travel destination for 2018. The Boston Common is a great place for that.
