Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty has taken the cosmetics industry by storm with their launch of over 50 foundation shades and inclusive attitude towards beauty. With so much celebration and love around this brand (and the founder), it can sometimes be hard to separate the hype from the products true performance. Keeping in mind that all opinions are subjective, here are some of the best and worst of Fenty Beauty products.
The one and only foundation (so far) in the Fenty Beauty line was met with instant applause even before it was available to the public. Released in 2017 with over 40 shades, this product revolutionized the beauty industry for the better and set the tone for what people expect out of most makeup brands.
Perfect for those with a normal to oily skin type, it applies beautifully with a brush or a sponge and is sweat and humidity proof. It will dry down quickly however, so make sure to blend in small sections on your face. As of January 2019, they have added an additional 10 colors for a boundary-breaking total of 50 shades.
Fenty Beauty’s Matte Skinsticks are described as being a magnetized makeup stick with a long-wear, light-as-air matte formula that’s perfect for concealing, correcting and sculpting. With 20 different shades, anyone can find their perfect concealer and contour color. They also have a line of Shimmer Skinsticks that offer various highlight, blush and bronzer shades in 10 universal colors.
The sticks can seem a little hard to work with at first, but the trick is to warm them up on the back of your hand and apply onto the face with a brush or a sponge. The formula dries down to a soft, powdery finish and lasts all day without creasing or fading.
Trust Rihanna to knock it out of the park with an amazing set of highlighters. The Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters are perfect weightless, long-wearing, cream-powder hybrids that range from subtle to supercharged shine.
They apply beautifully to cheeks, eyes or anywhere else you are looking to add more shine. Blends right into the skin, and with 5 complementary duo shades and 4 single shades, there is a pair for any skin tone and style.
Another amazing addition to the Fenty Beauty line, the Moroccan Spice Eyeshadow Palette is a nice combination of cool and warm toned shades with 6 mattes and 10 shimmers that will suit all skin tones and styles.
With a rich, buildable, pigmented, long-wearing and creaseless formula, this palette will definitely spice up your look in limitless ways.
One of the four lip products in the Fenty Beauty line, the Stunna Lip Paint is one that is not only pigmented but easy to apply and comes in 8 universal shades. Described as a weightless, long-wearing liquid lipstick with a soft matte finish, it offers opaque coverage in just a few swipes.
Unfortunately not as long lasting as advertised. You will definitely need to reapply after any meal or drinks, but trust when we say it will be worth the constant compliments coming your way.
The newest addition to the Fenty Beauty line, this liquid concealer comes in the same staggering 50 shades designed to match the Pro Filt’r foundation. Described as a creamy, long-wearing, crease proof liquid concealer with a medium-to-full coverage, it should brighten under-eyes and conceal blemishes and redness.
Unfortunately, this formula seems to have a hard time blending out on the skin, and when applied can crease in the under-eye area and look dry and cakey after application.
This Fenty Beauty setting powder was released along with the concealer earlier this year and contains 8 different shades. From Lavender for fair to light skin tones all the way to Coffee for deep to very deep skin tones, there is undoubtedly a hue to suit everyone.
Sadly, many have stated that this powder just doesn’t cut it. It is said to accentuate creases and makes skin look either extremely oily after only a few hours or extremely dry and cracked. The initial application of the powder however is quite nice and the color is usually a great match.
The Fenty Beauty Body Lava Body Luminizer was released to quite a bit of dissapointment and is one of the only Fenty products (along with the Fairy bomb powder puff) that left most underwhelmed.
It is described as being a shimmering body liquid that comes in a rose gold shade and a bronze glow. Many have dubbed it “overpriced body glitter oil” that is extremely sticky and wears off within minutes.
Part of Fenty Beauty’s first launch, the Invisimatte Blotting powder was something many couldn’t wait to get their hands on. Basically meant to be a translucent pressed powder designed to fit ANY skin tone, it is supposed to dull shine on the face without disturbing the makeup while leaving no trace of a powdery white residue.
Sounds too good to be true right? Well unfortunately it is for some. Not only does this powder leave a white residue behind, but it does not dull shine properly and seems to disturb the makeup and leaves it looking cakey after application.
