Everything You Need To Know About The Bentley Application Process
Applying to college is certainly not an easy task. Students in the United States are beginning their 13th year of school when they apply to college. You would think that 13 years of school would be enough for colleges to evaluate you on, but you’re wrong. Here 10 tips about the Bentley University application process that you should know about before applying!
1. Bentley University is a member of the Common Application.
This is a lifesaver. No need to fill out extra forms. I would recommend students begin their Common App in the summer, as it opens August 1st and senior year is very busy.
2. The application fee for Bentley University is $50.
If a financial difficulty is present, do not be afraid to request a fee waiver.
3. No additional essays are required, but the Common App essay is required.
Several other colleges I applied to required or strongly suggested supplemental essays, but Bentley is not one of those schools.
4. Your guidance counselor needs to submit your midterm grades.
No slacking off after you submit your application!
5. Two letters of recommendation are required, one from a guidance counselor and one from a teacher.
I would strongly suggest emailing one or two teachers over the summer and then stopping by as soon as school begins. Many of your classmates will be asking the same teachers that you are.
6. SAT or ACT scores are required.
Not both, but at least one of the two. I submitted my ACT scores because they were a lot better. Take both tests at least two times and submit your best scores.
7. If you want to apply early decision, the application is due mid-November (November 15th for high school class of 2018).
Your decision will be released late December, typically a week before Christmas.
8. If you want to apply regular decision, the application is due early January (January 7th for high school class of 2018).
Your decision will be released mid March (this year it was March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day!!).
9. Just because an application is due November 15th or January 7th, it does not mean you have to or should wait for the deadline.
I submitted my regular decision application early October and it felt so good to have it done.
10. Scholarships will be announced in your application decision.
There are several scholarships you are eligible for just for applying, no extra essays required.
11. When the application process is complete and your Bentley acceptance is released, you will not regret deciding on Bentley.
Bentley University is a beautiful school in a great location, not too far from Boston. Go Falcons!
