Bella Hadid, the It-Girl, supermodel, and fashion mogul never fails to set trends and turn heads with her head-to-toe effortless beauty. Bella’s makeup always includes a statement eye, whether she sports a smokey cat eye, glitter shadow, or a pop of color, and the rest of her makeup remains minimal but classy. No matter the eye makeup, the model is never seen without contour, a nude or pink lip, and brushed brows.
The first of Bella’s looks up to bat is her striking waterline and upper lash line eyeliner combo. The darkness of the heavier eye makeup is balanced by a softer, ashy brow and the light sweep of eyeshadow contours Bella’s eyes into a cat-eye shape. The grey-nude eyeshadow she wears in this look meets with the tip of her eyebrow. You can accomplish this look by using a fine-tipped brush for a cleaner line. Apply the makeup to the tip of the brush and gently press against the lower lid to open up the lash line space. A cream eyeliner or a very sharp pencil will work best to replicate the precision of this liner look. To achieve the same muted brows, start by filling them in with a pencil, and apply a small amount of translucent or light coverage powder, pressed or loose, and gently tap powder over the brow. Allow the powder to sit on the brow, as a form of mini-bake while you finish the rest of your makeup. At the very end gently brush off the excess. Not only does this slightly mute the brow like Bella, but creates mattified and realistic looking hairs. Bella’s remaining face makeup is pretty minimal which only heightens the boldness of her eyeliner, but the look includes bronzer, mascara on the top and bottom lashes, blush, and a glossy nude lip to top it off.
This look is a perfect transition from Summer to Fall, replicating the smoldering shades of melty sunbeams and early changing leaves. Similar to the first look, the brows are very soft-colored and fluffy, yet muted. The main focus is again the eyes, paired with a devastatingly sculpted contour. To mimic this eye-blending technique, start buffing the shadow gently in a cat eye shape, carrying the shadow a little higher than the outer corner of the eye. Find a shade that works best for your skin tone, one that particularly will bring a lot of warmth with undertones of copper and peach. The look entails a soft salmon blush, which is applied to the apples of the cheeks. Bella’s skin is dewy, which can be recreated by applying a gold highlighter down the bridge of your nose and along your cheek bones. For the halo effect, the middle of the lid is a sparkly peach color, however, the rest of the surrounding shadow is a matte peach that fades into an eggplant brown hue which is diffused along her lash line and leads up to her outer corner. For the lips, Bella sports a bright coral lipstick and to finish, a defined contour from her temples down her jawline that defines her cheekbones.
This glittery gold wing is glamorous, polished, and a little edgy. Bella’s signature cat-eye look makes a comeback with more glitz than ever. First apply buff concealer over the eye and after buffing it out, add translucent powder to create a canvas for the eyeshadow and is imperative when creating graphic liner shapes. Next, gently apply the metallic color from the inner corner of the eye to the center of the lid and sweep into your desired wing shape, or until it almost touches the outer tip of the eyebrow, and fill the wing in. After this, work the liquid shadow on your bottom lash line until it connects back up to your wing, and voila! For the eyebrows, use a dual-ended eyebrow pencil and brush to fill in the hairs and shape of the brows, and finish with a gel. The lip in this look is a brick-toned nude color that compliments the darkness of her hair and glittery eyes. Similar to the other looks, Bella has a deep contour along her jawline and a sweep of highlighter along the length of her nose. If you’re wondering where to wear this bold eye trend, try this look at your next party, concert or festival.
This look shakes up Bella’s usual cat eye routine, and opts for a flirty pop of color. The way the liner is placed ingeniously, hovering above the eyelid mimics the makeup of the sixties, where color and abstract shape reigned. This liner placement makes her eyes appear larger and more pronounced and her lash line is also lined, but with a black liner instead. To make this look yours, the first step is tight-lining your lash line with a cream or liquid black liner as closely to the lash line as possible. Once this is done, you can start by applying your blue eyeliner, making a line parallel to the same shape of your eyelid. Of course the look is not complete without a contour! For this step, start by making an L-shape from the hairline into the cheekbone with your bronzing product. Then going in with highlighter, apply the product slightly above your contour and dab the two gently into the skin. To finish the look, trace the outline of your upper and lower lips with a dusky pink colored lip liner and fill it in using a sheer rose colored cream lipstick.
This last look of the Palestinian-Dutch supermodel is straight from the Victoria’s Secret runway. The eyes incorporate matte colors such as a frosty blue for the lids and is blended into a pale amber shadow just below her eyebrows. The two toned blue and pink crease combined with the highly bronzed matte skin and mauve lip liner references nineties glamour. The best way to accomplish this look is to first apply a primer to the eyelids, and then with a flat shader brush begin to apply your pastel blue shadow along your entire eyelid. After application, buff the blue shadow into a loose cat-eye shape at the outermost corner of the eyes and very lightly along your lower lash line. Use a separate shader brush to start forming the terracotta crease from the point right above your eyelid to meet your brow bone, and blend the colors together at the edge of the cat eye. Once your lids are done, you’ll want to break out your favorite matte highlighter, dabbing a small amount into the inner corners of the eyes inner corner of the eyes. Next, using a brown eyeliner you can tight-line your lash line. Apply mascara to your top lashes and fill in your eyebrow hairs with a powder brow product or pencil. For the bronzer, use your product along the hairline, cheeks, and the length of the nose. For Bella’s contour, buff your bronzer from the bottom of your earlobe down to your jaw and blend. Apply a powder orange blush to the cheeks. For these lips, use a pinky-brown liner, and trace along your natural lip shape and press your lips together to blend. Dab a modest amount of pale plum lip gloss over the lips and the look is ready-to-wear!
Whether you opt for the drama of a shimmery gold wing, the playfulness of an abstract neon blue liner, or simmering pink halo eyes, you can now create model-worthy looks like Bella Hadid. Have fun trying out these makeup trends and feel free to put your own twist on these looks!
