We can all easily agree that being ghosted sucks, but sadly it is something that is becoming more and more common in today’s digital dating world. Ghosting can make you feel like absolute shit and can leave you wondering what you did that was so wrong that he could not even tell you face to face. It does not matter if you had been dating for 2 months or for 2 years, it still hurts and the pain is the same. Being Ghosted By Your Ex Sucks, But Here’s How To Get Over It.
Being ghosted truly sucks, and when you first realize that it has happened to you, you will probably have tons of emotions and thoughts that are rushing through your head. You are shocked, you are in denial, you are angry, all which are completely valid emotions. Take your time to process everything, all of your emotions, and all of your feelings, this will help you in your healing process.
This is an important step after being ghosted because you need time process your thoughts and emotions. Give yourself a few days ( a week max. ) to cry, listen to sad songs, and watch sad movies. Every breakup has a mourning period, so get it all out now.
After being ghosted it is super important not to reach out. This person has left your life for a reason (it may not be a good reason, but still) and if they wanted to contact you they would. You may want to contact them to know why they left, what you did wrong, and is the relationship fixable. But the best advice is to leave it alone. Just like mentioned in He’s Just Not That Into You “if a guy wants to be with you, he will make it happen.”
This goes hand in hand with not reaching out. After being ghosted you will probably see things that remind you of your ex everywhere you go, his favorite song, the car he drives, everything seems to be a reference to him and your past. A quick and easy way to eliminate these reminders is to look at what you can control, which are the things in your life and your social media. It may be hard but deleting him off of Snapchat, Insta, Facebook, and Twitter is for the best. Don’t forget to go through your camera roll and delete all of this pics and conversation screen shots.
You may feel like you now have tons of free time since you no longer have regular weekend plans, or someone to talk to on the phone every night. Take your newfound freedom and focus on yourself. Use this time to throw yourself back into your work, school, friends, and family.
Someone who is okay with the idea of ghosting someone as a way to end a relationship is not someone that you would want to have in your life. Whether you viewed your relationship as a health one or a toxic one, the fact that they were okay with ghosting someone is a red flag.
