’90s Beauty Tips To Use Everyday

’90s beauty was such an iconic time to be apart of. It was all about Britney Spears, Supermodels, and Tamagotchi’s. It was a great time to be alive! Here are some of the most used beauty tips from the ’90s that you can use every day!

1. ’90s blowout

On top of my list, I think Cher from Clueless. If you haven’t seen the movie, stop reading… and GO WATCH IT NOW. The movie is a ’90s classic. Filled with relatable cheesy jokes, fashion that’s out of this world, and of course, beauty looks that are admired by all.

Cher introduced us to the most beautiful hairstyle in this movie. The blowout. It looks gorgeous. You can achieve this look at home too! Get a round brush, some hair protectant, and why don’t you pull up a YouTube video to help out also! With a little practice, your blowout will look just as amazing as Cher’s!

2. Red lips, brown lips, pink lips

Lips are a huge focal point for the ’90s. It was all about emphasizing the lips while playing with different shades. The most popular shades were dark red lip colors, brown colors, and lighter pinky shades. A ’90s lip color was nothing without the lip liner! Pair it with a darker liner and this look would guarantee you to look like a beaut! So gorgeous that this trend can be used even today.

3. Natural glow

Although beauty in the ’90s was a lot about the lips, it was also about the natural glow on the face! Of course, there were a lot of different makeup trends that ranged in the amount of makeup that was applied, but the one worn most often by the majority of girls and women was the no-makeup-makeup look! Supermodels were known to keep the skin glowy and healthy. This makeup trend had to look as if nothing was on it, but for a matter of fact, there was! A little bit of concealer and powder did the trick!

4. Cheekbones

Since supermodels such as Cindy Crawford and Namoi Campbell, were such a huge hit during this time a big trend that people were trying to achieve were the cheekbones. People used bronzer or a dark-toned power to achieve very natural contoured cheekbones. No one wanted to be seen with a dramatic contour since it would be very visible for others to see. Remember, no-makeup makeup look was how they did it.

5. Crimped hair

If you loved crimped hair as much as the ’90s then you’re in luck! This hairstyle was worn by EVERYONE. It was such a trend and what’s even better is that it continues to stay in trend! You can either go to your local beauty store and buy a crimping iron, or you can achieve this look with braids. Get your hair damp, and braid your hair into french or dutch braids starting at the top of your head. Go to sleep in them, then wake up and take the braids out. Use your fingers to brush them out lightly, and wah-la! Your hair will look as if you were born right out of the ’90s.

6. DIY face maks

During this time, face masks were just starting to become more popular. What was really hitting the scene was DIY face masks. The great thing about DIY face masks was that it didn’t cost much to make a high-quality mask! Plus, all the nutrients from at-home food products were essential to any glowy skin. You can find DIY face mask recipes online that are easy to make. Use these on the regular and the beauty in you will start to show even more!

7. Sun In

Looking to do highlights, but it’s just not worth the money! Sun-In is a classic ’90s beauty technique to get natural-looking highlights for a low cost. You can get this product at your local Walgreens, Target, Ulta, and many more stores! All you have to do is get your hair wet, then apply the product either throughout your hair or just to the areas you want to be highlighted. Comb through the hair and then you can either blow dry it or go out into the sun! Both ways will give you a beautiful natural highlight! The more you use it, the brighter your hair gets.

9. Mane n’ Tail

Hair, hair, hair. To achieve that gorgeous Cher hair back in the ’90s you had to first grow it out first. A holy grail hair product was Mane n’ Tail shampoo and conditioner. This product was originally used for a horses mane. Many times the owners of the horses would try out the products first before putting it on the horse because they have very sensitive skin and these products did the trick. It worked so well that the owners started to notice how well it was working in their hair. Their hair started to look more healthy and shiny. Before they knew it, it was helping with strengthening the hair follicles as well. Now it is a true favorite for many and is still growing today!

Biore pore strips were everything back in the ’90s. If you had any blackheads at all, the best feeling was using these strips especially on the nose, and peeling it off slowly to reveal the ugly but totally satisfying to look at blackheads that came out onto the pore strips. It was awesome! Totally essential!

11. Tommy Girl

This is truly a standout sent. It came out in 1996 and was an everyday fragrance. It has a floral scent that was advertised as a very “All American” fragrance. Every girl was wearing this at the time. It takes you back to the ’90s instantly.
