10 Beauty DIY Ideas To Try ASAP

Beauty DIY projects can be easy and fun to do. If you are a lover of all-natural products but do not have the budget, you can always make them on your own. An added benefit is that you can also customize each recipe to your hair or skin care needs. You can have complete control of all the ingredients in your beauty products.

Always perform a patch test on any items that you want to apply on your skin. This will prevent you from experiencing allergic reactions. A patch test is simply applying the product or solution on your skin for 24-48 hours. If your skin reacts negatively, then you should NOT use it on your face.

Skin Care DIY:

Mask to treat dry skin- Plain yogurt and oatmeal

This DIY trick can be used for those that have dry, sensitive skin. Yogurt is great for moisturizing your skin and fighting acne. There are natural enzymes in yogurt that will break down the oil and bacteria in your pores that cause acne. Oatmeal has the same benefits. It also can help exfoliate dead skin on your face because of its texture.

Mask to treat acne-Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is another ingredient that can gently exfoliate your skin. It can also fight acne and soothe skin irritations. The gel form of aloe vera has been known to help with sunburn and other skin issues, like eczema and psoriasis.

Mask to treat acne and give glowy skin- Coconut oil and turmeric

Coconut oil has natural anti-inflammatory properties, which could help with acne. Acne is the inflammation of your pores when they fill up with oil and dead skin cells. Turmeric has many of the same properties as coconut oil, so they would work together in a mask to treat acne and acne scars. Turmeric is also jam-packed with antioxidants, which can give your skin a natural glow. This mask would be best to use at night because it can cause staining on the skin. It will not cause any harm to your skin, but this is not the mask to try when you have an important event to attend afterward.

Mask to prevent aging & tighten pores- Honey and egg whites

Honey has natural anti-bacterial properties, and it is full of antioxidants, which is great for treating acne and preventing signs of aging. Eggs contain proteins in them that can help tighten your pores and skin. This would be great for anyone who wants to prevent signs of aging or has an issue with their pores and/or skin texture.

Body skincare:

Body scrub- Coffee, Coconut oil, sea salt, olive oil

If you are an avid coffee drinker and you want to make a scrub, do not throw those ground away just yet. This scrub would be best for those who want to smooth and tighten their skin. It would be best to use on wet skin while you are in the shower. The warm water will open the pores on your body, which will allow the caffeine and the oils to penetrate your skin.

Ingrown hair fix- Witch hazel, glycerin, tea tree oil

This DIY project is a skin tonic that can tackle and prevent ingrown hairs. Witch hazel is an astringent, which means it will keep your hair follicles clean by tightening the pore to release the hair and dead skin cells inside. Vegetable glycerin provides moisture to your skin. Moisture is important when dealing with ingrown hairs because it keeps the skin from getting irritated and prevents buildup from clogging the pores. Tea tree oil is a natural but very strong antiseptic. It would be best to only use a few drops in your skin tonic.

Haircare DIY:

Leave- in conditioner for frizzy hair aloe juice, argan oil, glycerin

Many people do not think of using aloe vera in a juiced form. It offers the same benefits as the gel, just in a smoother and liquid consistency. It provides moisture to your hair while also closing the cuticle of your hair. The juice aids in smoothing down your hair cuticle, which means less frizz. Argan oil and glycerin have the same benefits also. Argan oil also adds shine and strengthens your hair’s elasticity.

Conditioner for dry hair- Avocado oil, coconut milk, water

Avocado is one of few oils that actually penetrate your hair shaft instead of just sitting on top of it. Coconut milk offers a lot of moisture while also promoting hair growth. If your hair is very coarse and dry, you could also use this as a leave-in conditioner.

Mix oil of your choice with a conditioner-

Another easy beauty DIY trick is to add your favorite hair oil to your conditioner as a deep conditioner. This is also great if you are in a pinch, but your hair needs all the moisture it can get. Coconut oil is very popular and for good reason. It keeps your scalp and hair moisturized, while also repairing your hair strands from any possible damage. Another good oil for your hair is jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is recommended to people that may suffer from dry scalp and dandruff. Jojoba oil is also great for those that want thicker hair or is interested in preventing hair loss.

Perfume oil almond oil/ jojoba (carrier oil), essentials oils-

If you love perfume and would love to customize your own, then continue reading and gather all of these ingredients. A glass container would be best to store these to keep them fresh. The first ingredient needed in your actual oil is any carrier oil of your choice. A carrier oil is an oil that has a light scent. These kinds of oil are mainly used to dilute essential oils. It does not matter what kind you use, but be mindful and conduct a patch test beforehand. The next thing you will need are essential oils that you would like in your perfume oil. Perfumes generally have 3-4 notes. Helpful tip: Try all of your scents on a cotton ball or round, so you will not waste any of your materials on a perfume oil that you will never use. If you like soft, sweet smells: you could use jasmine, vanilla, and sandalwood. Determine which you would like to strongest, that will be your top note or base note. The top note fades the faster, so keep that in mind also. Your mid-note would be the scent you want there, but you do not want it to overpower your perfume. Your top and base note should be double your mid-note. For example, if you have sandalwood has your mid-note and you use 8 drops, then you should 16 drops of jasmine and vanilla.

Which beauty DIY idea are you ready to try? What scents would you like to add to your perfume oil?
