10 Bathing Suit Trends You Need To Know About For Summer
Bathing suit trends seem to change every year. It’s hard to keep up with the different styles and find one that you love in time. Not to worry, we got the latest styles for this upcoming swimsuit season so you’ll be ready to strut your stuff just in time for summer. You might be able to find one that will become your new favorite that can last for multiple seasons to come.
1. High waisted bottoms
This trend seemed to spill over from last season’s swimsuit styles but now it’s even more prominent. We are seeing more of a higher waist on bikini bottoms giving it a more retro vibe. These seem to be designed to accentuate the smallest part of the waist and smooth out the hips. These are not only super cute but now no one has to worry about their bottoms sliding down while in the water.
These can come in many different styles as well. Some have a high-thigh, Brazilian style cut, some are like high waisted shorts that have a little fabric for the leg or some are just a regular high waisted, fitted bottom. Find one that you feel your best in and rock it.
2. Bandeau tops
Strapless bikini tops have always been popular, now bandeaus are entering the swimsuit world and taking the strapless tops to a whole new level. Instead of the bra-like shape that typical strapless tops would be, bandeaus are a simple, wide, stretchy band that wraps around the chest. These are great for all cup sizes and are much more comfortable than a traditional bikini top. Most of these bandeau tops do come with removable straps, but the trend seems to be keeping the spaghetti straps on to add comfort, support, and style.
3. Simple stripes
Stripes are replacing polka dots this season! However, it’s not just any kind of stripe. Simple, horizontal stripes are in. I’ve seen big chunky ones, small thin ones, and even criss cross patterns. These trendy stripes are a minimal pattern on swimsuits but still offer a cute, simplistic look.
4. Minimal print
If it doesn’t have stripes, most of this season’s bathing suit trends will be all one-color or have minimal print. The prints are small, cute, and subtle. These can range from flowers to animal prints to palm trees or any kind of beachy plant. The colors of the patterns are also more pastel, matte, or something more subdued. The minimal print also allows you to mix and match with other single-color suit tops and bottoms that you probably have in your closet which make them multi-faceted. So, if you want to change up your simple swimsuit look, reach for a minimal print one.
5. One-pieces are back
That’s right, one-pieces are making a comeback and are not just for the older crowd. We saw this trend start to pick up last year and now it’s in full effect. One-pieces now actually come in many cute designs and styles, and can be worn by anyone! I’ve seen the one-piece come in a full, plain piece, some have straps around the waist, and some even look just like a two-piece but are connected subtly on the sides. There are so many different options and styles to choose from so don’t be afraid to try something new. They might even be cuter than a two-piece!
6. A little ruffle
Ruffles add a little something extra that can take a suit from being plain to super cute. The key to this trend is to keep it simple. We saw super large and chunky pieces of ruffle on bathing suits in past seasons, but now it’s a little more subtle. The ruffles are usually around the edges of the suit to give it a little flair and make it feel more girly and sweet.
7. Strappy
Straps started to become a popular addition to swimsuits this season. Extra straps have been added to one-pieces and two-pieces alike. This trend makes swimsuits look more extravagant and can help accentuate your waist in the process. Again, with this style, the straps can come in many different designs, so find one that fits your vibe!
8. Multi-patterned mismatch
This is a super cute trend that will be sure to catch anyone’s eye. This requires mismatching two different patterns for the top and bottom parts of the swimsuit. It works really well if both patterns have the same color scheme or have colors that go together well on them. It’s also nice if you have a bottom that can be paired with multiple different-pattern tops and vice versa, so you’ll get multiple swim outfits out of this trend. Some of these even come as a one-piece or sold as a two-piece already, so the hard work of figuring out the right colors and patterns is already done for you.
9. Elastic and stretchy
This kind of material is probably the most comfortable out of all the new bathing suit trends. It is a soft material that had elastic bands across the entire piece. If you’re like me and you like a bathing suit that stretches so you have that extra breathing room and mobility, then this is perfect for you. It also looks super cute by adding a textured-look to the swimsuit. It’s a great material for all body types.
10. Neons
Neons have always been great summer colors because of how good and reflective they look in the sun. This style has been sort of a constant in bathing suit trends over the years but have not always been as prominent. This season, they seem to be standing out more and therefore it can be a great way for you to stand out as well!
