5 Bad Beauty Trends We Are Saying Goodbye To In 2018

We have said goodbye to 2017, have stopped having to turn the sevens to eights in every date line, but now it’s time to let go of the beauty trends of the past. So, you may wonder what 2018 holds for us. I mean, we are five months into the year but nothing before spring even counts anyway. So, here are the five bad beauty trends you should say goodbye to this spring, so you can embrace the new.

Hair Extensions

While long beautiful hair will probably always be in style, the craze around mermaid hair has finally faded. If you have healthy long hair, flaunt it, but if you are clipping in 5 rows of heavy extensions every time you feel the need to look good, don’t bother. 2018 isn’t making that direct connection between hip-length hair and beauty, so you can sport your shoulder length locks with confidence. Personally, I can’t be happier that this trend is on its way out, because who wants a hanger full of someone else’s old hair in the bathroom?

Lip Filler

Am I the only one who didn’t go crazy for Kylie lips in 2017? I swear, I saw more 20-something year olds getting lip injections last year than ever. I could walk around the produce section of my local store and see at least 5 people with bigger lips than they had last week. While you should do whatever you want with your body, the pressure to have a perfectly plump lip print is not staying around for 2018.  Not only does that mean that people can stop paying for expensive injections every few months, it means that the rest of us can stop trying to figure out how to over line our lips without looking like a clown.

Lash Extensions

I really hope this one is actually leaving, because, where I live, it’s still going strong. But, if you take a closer look at social media you may see that the lash game is changing. People are choosing to go for a more natural look rather than the thick Barbie doll effect that full lash extensions give. I’ll be completely honest, I both understand why people love lashes and can’t be more excited to see them go.

This was a trend that just didn’t know when to stop. People would start with beautiful dark lashes, but within a fill or two, they would leave with a caterpillar on each eye. If you can’t ride your bike because your lashes catch too much wind, I am talking to you… it’s too much. Also, this trend is beyond expensive, costing a minimum of $50 every two weeks! Luckily, this summer will be praising the natural look over the “done”.

Micro blading

I think people saw the issue with this trend when it started… it’s a tattoo. So, even though they claim it’s not permanent, it lasts longer and longer with every touch up. So, say you got into this trend for a few years, which is about 5 appointments if my source is correct, and get your brows micro bladed to perfection. Well, now you have the most perfect brows and suddenly trends change and now everyone is hot for natural brows. Chances are you will be regretting having perfectly marked brows on your face instead of natural wild ones.

Tanned skin

I want to be clear, this trend is not saying that pale skin is in, it is simply saying that the craze for perfectly bronzed skin is out. Every year we learn more and more about the dangers of skin cancer, and with that comes awareness around praising tanned beauties. So, you can finally put down the bronzer, hang up the tanning googles, and please throw out the sun oil, because every skin tone is in in 2018. Whatever skin you have, it is finally more popular to take care of it than to change it. This one of the bad beauty trends is bad for more than one reason. It’s bad for your skin!
