Austin, Texas is a great place to find yourself in, especially during the summer! That’s because there’s so many great places to cool off and go swimming in and around the Austin area.
If you’re looking to find some of those rad places, then here’s a little list of some of the coolest places you should go swimming in Austin, Texas!
A really great place to go swimming in Austin, Texas is the Deep Eddy Pool. If you visit this pool you’ll get a little taste of history as it’s the first man-made swimming pool in Texas!
The waters are so blue and it’s a really nice place to go if you’re just looking to relax with a little less people around (unlike Barton Springs Pool which usually has a bit more traffic).
The cost to get in is anywhere from $2-$9 depending on if you’re an Austin resident or not, and it’s free for children under the age of 1! There’s also a super delicious smoothie called place Juiceland just up the road if you’re wanting something refreshing after your nice summer swim.

Next up is one of my all time favorite places to go swimming in the Austin area: Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve. You need to make reservations to go swimming there so you’ll definitely need to plan ahead, but it’s totally worth it!
You won’t believe you’re in Texas when you see the beautiful and natural swimming area that you’ll find at Hamilton Pool. Be sure bring towels, water, and snacks so you can relax on the beach and then go swimming in this awesome pool surrounded by little waterfalls!
You’ll also want to take some water shoes with you or hiking sandals like Chacos because it’s a bit of a hike to get down to the pool! Click here for more information about this amazing place.
Next up is probably one of the most popular places people may think of when they decide to go swimming somewhere in Austin! Barton Springs Pool is a beautiful spot near Zilker Park that’s fed by a natural spring so it’s always around 68-70°.
The cost to get in is around $2-$9 depending on if you’re an Austin resident or not, and free for children under the age of 1, just like Deep Eddy Pool.
This place is a super fun pool to go swimming at with friends, family, or even just by yourself! It’s definetly a place you need to go whether you’re visiting Austin or reside there. Click here or more information on Barton Springs Pool.
Next up is probably my second favorite place to go swimming and hiking in Austin, Texas. The Greenbelt is a fun place to go swimming at any spot where there’s enough water (depending on how much it’s rained, etc.), but a little spot called Campbell’s Hole is my personal favorite!
This spot has lot’s of little areas you can sit and relax, and you can even swim across the water and hike up a big boulder so you can do some mini cliff jumping! Be sure to always be careful though and make sure there’s enough water to go swimming/jumping in.
Click here to get the exact location of Campbell’s Hole so you can find it easily when you hike down the beautiful Greenbelt.
