Average Estimated Undergraduate Budgets For 2019

For some people, this coming Fall will be their first semester in college as an undergraduate student. For others, they are returning or maybe it is their senior year. Whatever your position is, it is good to keep undergraduate budgets. Without a budget, you will be spending more money than you can afford to, leaving you with not enough money for the things that you really need. With a budget, you are able to break things up into what you need, and then you will know exactly how much money you have left over to spend on things that you want like clothes, going to the movies, or that ice cream that you want to treat yourself to. Here I have some undergraduate budgets based on what your school plan is to help you prepare for your coming school year! These undergraduate budgets are geared towards full-time students and they will be broken up to tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and other expenses.

1. Public Two Year In District Communter

For a public two year in district college where you are not living on campus but are rather commuting, the total cost will be the cheapest of the four that I list in this article. Tuition and fees will cost approximately $3660. This is because two-year colleges are typically cheaper than four-year institutions. Room and board are approximately $8660. You have a little more control over the cost of room and board when you do not live on campus so this will be the cheapest of the four options for room and board. Books and supplies are approximately $1440. Transportation for this option will be the most expensive, as you will be commuting rather than living on campus within walking distance. Transportation is about $1880. Other expenses will be around $2370. The total cost for this plan is $17,930.

2. Public Four Year In State On Campus

Of all of the four-year options, the option of going to a public four year in state on campus will be the cheapest one, but it is still a big jump from the public two year in district commuter. Tuition and fees will cost approximately $10,230. Room and board will cost approximately $11,140. On-campus housing is typically more expensive than off-campus housing. Books and supplies will cost approximately $1240. Transportation will cost approximately $1160. Other expenses will cost approximately $2120. This will total out to about $25,890.

3. Public Four Year Out of State On Campus

Public four year out of state on campus will be the most expensive of the public schools. This is primarily because out of state tuition is higher than in-state tuition. Tuition and fees will cost approximately $26,290. Room and board will cost approximately $11,140. Books and supplies will cost approximately $1240. Transportation will cost approximately $1160. Other expenses will cost approximately $2120. This will total out to about $41,950.

4. Private Nonprofit Four Year On Campus

Private schools cost more than public school, and typically have higher tuition than out of state. For this reason, private nonprofit four year on campus will be the most costly of the four plans that we are budgeting for. Tuition and fees will cost approximately $35,830. Room and board will cost approximately $12,680. Books and supplies will cost approximately $1240. Transportation will cost approximately $1050. Finally, transportation will cost approximately $1700. This will total out to around $52,500.
