Hello gang, hope everything is well! I’ve recently been travelling and have got the 10 travel tips for you, to ensure a a safe and enjoyable adventure.
Always, always have backup money stored. Even if its a couple of bills in your shoe or an overseas card that you can access, always carry it with you. You never know when you might be in a sticky situation and need to buy a taxi home. This is the first tip that you should follow when travelling.
The second tip to follow is travelling with friends. I understand that some people want to go and ‘discover themselves’ and travel alone. Personally, if I was going to a different country, I would take a friend. Whats the harm? Taking a friend makes travelling safe and more fun. Creating a strong bond with your close friend and pushing each other to take opportunities and not let them slip past.
So this tip follows in with the safety side of travelling. Don’t get me wrong, travelling is suppose to get you out of your comfort zone to an extent. However if you ever feel like you’re in a situation where you don’t feel 100% comfortable, make sure you have someone to help you and to call. Whether it be a friend you are travelling with, or perhaps a trusted person you have make a close connection with in that country. Safety is something you should always follow when being in a unfamiliar country.
This is my must follow tip when travelling. That is to embrace! Embrace everything that the country has to offer. Hike, sightsee, do the classic touristy things and go above and beyond. I cant stress enough to do absolutely everything. Eat that delicacy, bungee off that cliff, hike up that mountain, and pose in front of that attraction. Who knows when you’ll be back to experience that again, and even then your experience will be completely different.
Whether you are travelling to India, Asia or even Scotland make sure you embrace the culture. Join in dancing, eat some haggis, give everything a try! who knows if and when you will be back. Embracing the culture in every country is what you are MEANT to do when travelling. Gaining the experience instead of just sight seeing will create memories that will last longer that any other. This is a tip that you should always, always follow. Don’t forget.
Another one of these travel tips is to make sure you budget! Plan your day to day budget, then weekly, to make sure you will have enough money to last you till when you return home. Budget food, accommodation, travel (taxi, train etc) and spending money. You want to make sure you have enough money to take souvenirs home to your friends and family.
I dont know about you, but I usually pack my whole damn wardrobe! I like have the options and the ‘just incase’ clothes. However, if you plan like a boss then you wont need as many clothes as you think. Try think clothing that can be versatile, what top can match with 3 pairs of pants, or what boots can go with how many number of outfits. Lay everything out and mix and match outfits, then pack the ones you want to wear. Only throw in ONE extra outfit for that ‘just incase’.
Travel insurance is a must have travel tip. Travel insurance covers a whole range of obstacles such as cancellation. If you have to cancel your holiday for some unknown reason, travel insurance covers that! Also if you happen to injury yourself while travelling, it can be very expensive without travel insurance. Travel insurance also covers lost baggage. So if you arrive at your destination but your bag has not then that covers expenses. This is always one of the great travel tips.
If you are going away for a while, it might be worthwhile to cancel subscriptions and save some money while away. Its also important to let people know when you are leaving and when you will be back. That way people can say a ‘bon voyage’ to you and make sure they can plan things around you when you are back.
Another must have travel tip is making sure you house is secure. Perhaps have someone, a friend or relative to check your property once a week or so to make sure everything is a-ok! Triple checking locked doors, sheds, garages and lock away your car, out of sight as well. If you are only going away for a short time, even leave a little lamp on to give the illusion you are still home! Easy!
Well gang thats all from me, I hope these travel tips helped you and gets you excited to book a safe and exciting trip, I know it sure did for me! I’m off to book my flights!
