A Typical Day In The Life Of A La Trobe Student

Every university has it’s own quirks that make the uni experience unique. From the commute to La Trobe, to the struggle of getting through Agora mid day. Keep reading to find out what a typical day in the life of a La Trobe student is really like!

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!

You wake up to your alarm blaring like you have every other morning this week. You’ve probably already hit snooze three times so you know you need to get up now or you’ll be late.

Up you get!

Maybe you jump out of bed refreshed and ready to start the day but more often than not you do the classic uni-zombie shuffle to the kitchen to get your morning caffeine fix. If you’ve got time, and it’s your thing, you have breakfast.

Where’s your laptop charger?

Then it’s time to get your things together and head off to uni, as per usual, there’s at least one thing you have to go hunting for. You more than likely either find it at the last minute or have to leave without it unless it’s vital.

Calculating route…

If you drive it’s time to negotiate traffic then spend half an hour looking for a car spot. If you’re more for public transport you do your best to find a seat (a mission in which you’ll probably fail) and wait out your trip.

Classes, classes and more classes.

Once you’re at uni you rush between back to back lectures and tutes. There’s probably a quick coffee or food run thrown in somewhere or catching up with friends if you’ve got a break.

You’re resigned to the fact that the Agora is going to be a nightmare to get through, it is every other day so why would today be any different. Sometimes you stop to look at whatever someone has laid out on one of the various tables but if you’re in a hurry, you do your best to navigate the crowd as quickly as possible.

Study time!

Unless you have other commitments, you’re probably going to head to the Borchardt library or home to study. You’ll most likely have at least five tabs open on your browser, your notes spread around you or across multiple Microsoft Office programs and another coffee somewhere on your desk. You’ve probably got a snack of some variety somewhere close and you’re either listening to music/watching tv or wishing your housemates knew the definition of the word quiet.

Getting out of the house?

Maybe you’ll go out with friends, or to the gym. You might walk your dog or hang out with the people you live with.

Winding down after a long day.

Somewhere along the line you’ll break for dinner, a shower (if you didn’t have one in the morning) and anything else you do of a night time. If you’re super dedicated, or you just have a ton of work to do, you’ll go back to your studying otherwise you’ll relax and wind down for the night.

Lights out!

As you lay in bed at the end of the day, you set your alarm for tomorrow. You’re probably thinking about everything you have to do the next day and worrying about assignment results. You drift off to sleep knowing you have to do it all again tomorrow.
