No matter what kind of person you are or what you’re interested in, there is something here for you. One of the fastest growing cities in Australia, the Gold Coast sees about 13 million visitors each year and it’s no surprise why. The list could go on, however here are 10 of the top reasons to visit the Gold Coast.
1. Life’s a beach
Spanning along 57km of coastline, the Gold Coast is definitely the perfect place to spend a day sunbathing, swimming or surfing. Some popular ones include Broadbeach, Main Beach, Nobby Beach, Surfers Paradise Beach and Coolangatta Beach. If getting your feet sandy isn’t for you, you can always take a nice stroll along the footpath and look over the ocean. 2. 2018 Commonwealth Games
In April next year, the Commonwealth Games will be held in the Gold Coast. With 275 sporting events and 70 nations competing, there will be a lot of visitors in the city. Tickets are already selling out fast, so make sure you secure them soon for a chance to witness the games. Fun fact: this will be the first Commonwealth Games to have an equal amount of male and female events.

The Gold Coast is the theme park capital – 5 of the major parks including Dreamworld, Whitewater World, Movie World, Sea World and Wet n Wild. Each offers unique rides for everyone from the more laid-back people to the thrill seekers, as well as other attractions and activities. The most popular of the lot is Pacific Fair – the fourth largest shopping centre in Australia. Surfers Paradise has a reputation for a party city. If clubbing is your thing, the Gold Coast is for you. In the main strip, you will find popular clubs such as Shooters, SinCity, The Bedroom, Elsewhere and Cocktails Nightclub. After Surfers, Broadbeach is also a popular destination for exciting nightlife.

Away from the city life, there are a number of beautiful national parks amongst the Gold Coast. With a range of walks for all fitness levels, you can see stunning rain forests, waterfalls, rock pools and other natural wonders.
