Mental health issues affect people every day; they can vary from serious mental illnesses like depression or bi-polar disorder to less severe issues like lack of self-confidence and feeling unmotivated and down. A simple way to cope with these issues is to provide yourself with more self-love and self-help which often gets prioritized last. Do you find yourself forgetting about self care because you’re too busy? Here is a list of 20 easy self care tips for mental health that could help you in your everyday life.
1. Create a To-Do List.
It can be extremely difficult to feel positive about the future when you can’t keep track of what needs to be done. By writing down a list you will feel more prepared and more accomplished when you get to tick things off.
2. Treat Yo-Self.
When you start to feel run-down and over-worked with mundane activities, make plans to do something you love. Have a massage, take a long walk, go shopping for your dream outfit, whatever it may be, make sure you have time to do it.

3. Find an outlet for emotions.
Whether it be your morning workout, ranting to your friends at 4am or writing down everything you’ve been holding in, it is important to find a healthy way to let out your emotions.
4. Make sure you get enough sleep.
Although this may seem like an easy tip as we grow older our lives become busier and sleep often gets chucked on the back-burner. However getting your 8 hours a night will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to start the day.
5. Watch your favourite movie even if it’s for the 100th time.
Watching a movie you love can be such a good distraction and give you the pick-me-up you needed.
6. Confide in people.
I know for some people opening up can be extremely difficult but speaking to your family, friends or even a trained professional can make you feel a lot more at ease with yourself.
7. Keep Busy.
When you’ve got so much going on in your life sometimes it is hard to sit around and be left alone with your thoughts, make sure you’re always on the go or doing something that keeps your brain occupied.
8. Spend time with the people you love.
Hanging out with close friends and family is one of the best ways to forget about the stresses in your life. It is important to feel loved and love back.
9. Take Naps.
When everything seems to be going wrong and you can’t handle the day anymore, just sleep. It will relieve you instantly and give you a well-needed break.
10. Spend some time outside everyday.
Take some time to enjoy your surroundings, even if that means taking your work outside for a little while. A little bit of fresh air can go a long way.
11. Take some time to clean and de-clutter.
This could simply just mean cleaning your room; cleaning can be a good distraction and you’d be surprised how much better you feel working in a clean environment.

12. Remove negative people from your life.
You’d be surprised how much a person can affect your well-being, it is necessary to take time to focus on where negativity lies in your life and to build up the strength to move away from it.
13. Listen to music.
Music can energize, relax, soothe or inspire you; take some time to sing and dance to your favourite music.
14. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
A lot of people see asking for help as a sign of failure, but everyone needs guidance sometimes and a little bit of advice can be just the thing you need.

Although social media can be a good distraction sometimes, no matter how hard it may be it is important to sign out every now and then and only be concerned with your life.
16. Create a routine for yourself.
If you’re constantly have anxieties and worries about the unknowns of the future having a set routine can make you feel more at ease in life; however if something is not working in your life do not be afraid to change things up.
17. Put on your favourite outfit and make an effort when you go out.
Wearing your favourite clothes and looking good when going out can make you feel so much better about yourself and more confident when trying new things.
18. Compliment other people.
Make sure the people in your life know they’re important to you. Making other people feel better about themselves can make you feel like a better person too.
19. Don’t say no to making plans.
Although after a long week all you want to do is sit at home and do nothing, getting out and about with friends will always boost your spirits. Try and make the most of your free time.
20. Binge watch Netflix and eat comfort food.
The one we all resort to the most. If all these things fail, binge watching your favourite TV series whilst scoffing down some food will surely do the trick and distract you for a little while.
