5 Factory Outlets In Melbourne Where You Can Score A Bargain

Factory outlets are a good place to go for shopping. Going to the source can often make for good deals. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at 5 factory outlets in Melbourne where you can score a bargain.

DFO South Wharf

The DFO outlet in South Wharf is a good destination for fashion shopping in particular. Located at 20 Convention Centre PI, the place is a bevy of shopping riches. The list of stores found here is extensive. Want shoes? They’ve got Adidas, Fila, Jay Jays, Levis, New Balance, Nike (if you want to shop there), Novo Shoes, Skechers, The Ugg Shop, Timberland, and several more. Want fashion? They’ve got an Amrani Outlet, Calvin Klein, Cotton On, Just Jeans, and Edge Clothing, just to name a few.

There’s a whole lot more like cosmetics, entertainment and leisure, hair and beauty, homewares, jewellery, toys, and travel. There’s also a promenade where you can choose from a variety of cuisine options. They have much in the way of bars, such as The Common Man (also a bistro) and the Plus 5 Bar. There are European and Asian options, as well as a couple of cafes.

For a factory outlet, it’s got a lot going for it, regularly holding events, most of which food and wine-based.  There are other things like cooking classes and music events.

Uni Hill Factory Outlets

This shopping precinct is located in the University Hill area of Bundoora, specifically 2 Janefield Drive. It has many of the brands mentioned already, plus Asics, Bed Bath N’ Table, City Chic, Country Road, Kathmandu, Puma, Rivers, Smiggle, EB Games, Giordano, and many more. In terms of offers, they’ve been known discount 70% off the biggest fashion brands.

It’s nice when factory outlets provide specific offers for students, as they’re never rolling in dough.  Given its proximity to universities like La Trobe and RMIT, it’s appropriate that Uni Hill does this. Signing up to the Student Rewards program gives students big discounts on major sport, fashion, and homeware brands. These include Cotton On, Country Road, City Chic, Bonds Outlet, and more.

Students need only show their student cards for up to 20% off brands like Fila and Converse on weekdays. There are also study break deals available, where food places like Nandos, Pizza Base, Killer Coffee, and Donut King have discounts.

Spencer Outlet Centre

You have to travel outside of the city centre to visit most of the factory outlets in Melbourne. Located on Level 1, 201 Spencer Street, conveniently next to Southern Cross Station, this is the only outlet shopping centre in the CBD. It’s home to over 100 specialty stores, made up of big brands and quality eateries. It also has the city’s only TK Maxx, Harris Scarfe, and Cotton On MEGA stores. There are also convenient stores like Coles and Chemist Warehouse.

Stores include Basement HQ, Forever New, Just Cuts, Rip Curl, Typo, and Windsor Smith. Special offers include no appointments at Central Beauty and Lovely Nails and Beauty, a brand new catering range at Soul Origin, Rewards at Bed Bath N’ Tables, and catering at Schnitz. There are often events on like the chance to win a $100 gift card.

Emporium Melbourne

Perhaps the most luxurious of the factory outlets on this list, it’s situated on 287 Londsdale Street. It offers a variety of upscale retailers plus restaurants and a food court. You know the place has a certain degree of class because it has a concierge. How many factory outlets have a concierge? To be fair, this place leans closer to shopping centre than factory outlet, but I digress.

This place truly has a long list of stores – Angus and Coote, Australian Geographic, Chanel, Hugo Boss, Myer, Pandora, Platypus Shoes, and UNIQLO, just to name a few. Restaurants and cafes include Bombay Bar, Dumplings Plus and The Honourable Judge.

The District Docklands

This indoor/outdoor shopping centre is located at 440 Docklands Drive. The Docklands is a great location, primed the leading lifestyle destination of Melbourne. This place is in the centre of it. Many of the big brands previously mentioned are present. They’ve also got H&M, General Pants Co., Ozmosis, Peter Jackson, and they also have a Costco.
