10 Artists To Check Out At Osheaga This Summer

Let’s be honest, sometimes the Osheaga lineup is most definitely not as strong as other years. Last year, in my opinion, the lineup was the best it’s been in a while. However, this year, there’s still tons of artists worth checking out: here’s just 10 of them!

1. Janelle Monáe

I love her. She is a multi-talented icon who was mentored by Prince and really excels at everything she does. Her music style is ever-changing, and honestly, every song is better than the last. She is a high-energy performer who will be sure to stun the Osheaga crowd with her killer dance moves and fantastic vocals, so make sure you check out her set!

2. Hozier

While you probably know him from his hit “Take Me To Church”, he released an album fairly recently that is so good, you’ll wish you’d heard it sooner. His latest album has been on repeat for me lately, and I’m sure you’ll love it just as much. You’ll definitely want to check him out at Osheaga because his raw talent is insane! His voice is one of the best I’ve ever heard live, and you’ll 100% be impressed when you hear him live.

3. Kaytranada

Though he was born in Haiti, Kaytranada has lived in Montreal for many years. The fact that he’s a headliner this year at Osheaga is amazing because we have to love some local talent. His R&B music should be a staple in anyone’s summer playlist, and so he’s definitely a must-see at Osheaga this year.

4. Joji

I have to say, Joji is one of the acts I’m most excited to see at Osheaga this summer. His lo-fi hip hop sound is so unique, and I have no doubt he’ll be rising in popularity because of it. Joji’s sound is unlike most other artists and stands out for the best possible reasons. It only took one listen for me to be hooked, and so 10/10 would recommend seizing the opportunity of seeing him live.

5. 070 Shake

Born Danielle Balbuena, 070 Shake is one of the most talented up-and-coming faces of R&B/hip hop music right now. She’s done features with some pretty big artists, and her own music is not to be overlooked either. I’m sure she’s going to deliver a stellar Osheaga performance with her beautiful vocals and catchy songs.

6. The Lumineers

I’m sure you’ve heard of them before, as their music has been doing pretty well on the charts for years. The folk-rock band is one of few whose entire discography is worth listening to. They’re one of the headliners at Osheaga this year, and deservedly so, because The Lumineers are really among the best in their genre.

7. Tame Impala

Tame Impala headlining Osheaga this year is probably one of the most exciting parts of the festival for me. The alternative/psychedelic music produced, written, and performed by Kevin Parker is a unique sound that he’s executed so perfectly. You definitely should not miss out on the chance to see Tame Impala live, because it will be one of the best performances of the weekend.

8. Flume

Flume has been around the music scene for years, and each song he releases somehow manages to top the last. His electronica-type music is sure to be a crowd favourite at Osheaga. Flume should be at the top of your list to see at the festival because he’s such a good live performer and his music pretty much holds something for everyone.

9. Gucci Mane

While rap may not be for everyone, Gucci Mane is among the biggest names performing at Osheaga this year. If you check out any of his past concerts on YouTube, you’ll see that he’s a very lively and exciting performer, and I’m sure his Osheaga performance will be no exception to that standard.

10. Young Thug

Young Thug really had to be featured on this list at some point. The rapper has a very inventive sound that is distinctly his own style, and he kills it every time. Honestly, all of his songs are worth listening to for a variety of reasons, and I’m so excited that he’s coming to Osheaga this year. If you’re looking for an exciting performance that will be one of the highlights of your weekend, definitely check him out.

These are just 10 of the tons of great performers coming to Osheaga this summer. Who are you most excited to see? Comment down below!
