15 Signs You Went To Ardrey Kell High School
No matter how long it has been since your prison sentence at Ardrey Cell ended and you graduated, once a knight, always a knight! These are the 15 signs you went to Ardrey Kell High School that any AK student can relate to!
1. You know how much of a difference school starting at 7:25 over 7:15 is.
You know that extra 10 minutes made a huge difference in your life and you absolutely dreaded having to start at 7:15.
2. You have been dresscoded by administration at least once.
You’re wearing PJ pants? Dresscoded. Off-the-shoulder top? Dresscoded. A sliver of your back is exposed? Go to the office immediately. No other school had a stricter dress code than Ardrey Cell.
3. You don’t really know what pep rallies are.
As hyped up as AK gets during sporting events, for some reason, the pep rallies were always heavily lacking of school spirit. The teachers tried hard to get us all to cheer and see which grade was the loudest, but their efforts only resulted in scattered claps and cheers. What is a pep rally? We couldn’t tell you.
4. All of your favorite teachers quit.
At some point in your underclassman days you had the absolute BEST teachers that gave you so much knowledge and made you look forward to their classes. Unfortunately, these amazing teachers always ended up disappearing, especially right around the time you needed them to write your letters of recommendation
5. The sound of the minute bell still gives you PTSD.
Ardrey Kell has the most obnoxious minute bell that you can never forget.
6. No alarm could ever wake you up as fully as “GOOOOOOOD MORNING ARDREY KELL!”
Enough said.
7. You took way too many AP courses to compete with your peers.
We all took a million AP’s, some we even had no interest in, just to get into a good college.
8. Going from the first floor stairwell to the third floor always reminded you how out of shape you were.
By the time you reached the top of the stairwell you were out of breath, sweating, and in tears.
9. You’ve had to do multiple walks of shame.
ID and agenda checks were always random and if you didn’t have yours, you were sent to the office. If you forgot to bring a book on DEAR day, you were sent to the office. And each time, everyone made sure to glare at you on your way out, as if none of them had done the same.
10. You dreaded 90-minute class weeks.
There was nothing worse than having 90 minute classes that felt never-ending!
11. You joined every honor society just to receive as many honor cords as possible.
You wanted to look somewhat accomplished at graduation and joining honor societies increased the amount of cords around your neck and perceived look of high school success.
12. The student parking lots were a sight for sore eyes.
Fender benders, horrible parking, and bad driving. You high school kids need to pay more attention in driver’s ed.
13. You had your fair share of threats and rumors spread around the school.
Every year there was a threat or rumor going on that made every go crazy.
14. The school wifi censorship had you feeling trapped.
Netflix, Snapchat, and all social media did not work on school wifi.
15. You know you’re not cool and will never be cool.
The principal preached to the student body that we weren’t cool and although the seniors were given an inkling of cool-status at the end of the year, we knew we would never be truly cool.
