Saving money is hard and nobody likes to spend their hard-earned money if they don’t have to. We’ve outlined 10 apps that help you save your money with minimal work on your part!
Pocket Points is one of the best apps to help save that any high school but mainly college student should have. All you have to do is open the app and make sure you are on the middle screen. It should have a timer on it. Then you lock your phone and either set it face down or even put it away in your bag. The longer your phone is locked, the more points you earn. The more points you earn the more deals you can get in their shop.
These deals include a percentage off of pizza orders, clothing, or outdoor activities. As long as you are on campus, the GPS in your phone will know and automatically reminds you to open the app and lock your phone so you can get rewarded for paying attention and learning in class!
Ibotta is my favorite of the apps to help save your money by giving you money back on your purchases. All you have to do is open the app and add the offers you want or need and then upload a picture of your receipt that has those offers on it and get money back.
If you want to withdraw your cashback from ibotta you have to reach a total of $20 in earnings. The cash out options include PayPal or Venmo, but you can also redeem your money in the form of gift cards from Amazon, American Eagle, etc.
Digit is one of the best apps to help save your money by connecting to your bank and tracks your spending habits so that it knows how much you have to put into savings. This app to help save uses the information on how you spend your money and your income by connecting to your bank and then gives you a good amount that you can withdraw from your account.
One thing that is a downside is that PayPal is not a supported bank you can connect to, and my personal bank is not on this app either. However, you can fill out a form and then get your bank potentially added to Digit if there is a benefit.
EveryDollar is one of the apps to help save your money by letting you set up a budget. By setting up a budget you allot yourself X amount of dollars for each category. These categories include but are not limited to rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, transportation, etc. You can even add your credit card payments, how much you normally donate, and even pet expenses to break down your spending.
This app does not connect to your bank so you have to manually enter your expenses each time you buy something.
Mint by Intuit is one of the best apps to help save you money by connecting you your bank account. This way the app can track your transactions. You can also set up a budget in this app and this app helps you save by updating your budget every time you spend money.
You can also add all of your bills so you can keep track that you pay them on time as well as factor them into your budget. This app to help save also lets you add your credit card so you can keep track of your credit score too.
Mvelopes is another one of the apps to help save you money, however, you get one month free before you have to pick a plan and pay monthly. All you have to do is connect the app to your bank account and create the budget that works the best for you and your expenses.
This app to help save you money uses an envelope system to help you plan and track all your expenses in each category.
This is one of the apps to help save your hard-earned money that connects to your bank. Then, you can organize all your expenses including bills. You can also add all your subscriptions and their costs to the app and manage them from there. You can also set up a budget to make sure you are staying on track with your expenses.
This sleek and modern app to help save you money is basically a budgeting app. Like most budgeting apps you input your monthly income and then all your expenses and what category the belong in. Then the app shows you your daily budget.
They even show you that the less you spend today the more you have to spend tomorrow.
TipYourself is another app to help save your money by basically tipping yourself. TipYourself connects to your personal bank account and allows you to make small-dollar transactions to the app. From there you put it in your “tip jar” within the app. This is a fun way to save you your money for that trip you have been dying to take or buying yourself that new car.
You can even set when you want to tip yourself. As a reward for going to the gym, as a reward for doing your homework, as a reward for eating a healthy meal. You choose when and how much you tip yourself.
Rakuten is mainly a computer app to help save, you can add to your browser but it also comes as an app on your phone. Even though this is an application that has you spend money to make money, you are basically getting cash back for shopping. It is a good way to buy things you need for less money, letting you save the money you get back for bills.
If you want it on your computer, then you just need to add it to your browser, but if you get the app, you purchase your items through the app to make sure that you get your cashback.
