15 Apps College Students Shouldn’t Live Without

Whether you’re just starting college or you’ve been there for a few years, there’s a number of apps that can make your life easier. From increasing your productivity to budgeting to feeling safe, there’s an app for everything.

Here are 15 apps college students shouldn’t live without.

1. Evernote

Evernote is so convenient as it’s all your note taking in one place. Write down your lecture and tutorial notes on your phone or laptop, and you can easily sync it to another device so you can have your notes wherever you are. You can also share your notes with friends or classmates.

2. Study Buddy

Study Buddy is great for when you need a study buddy when none of your classmates or friends are available. You can get help with homework and assignments, get free tutoring, and you can connect with students on your campus who are studying the same thing as you.

3. Grammarly

Grammarly is the copy editor you need for all of your assignments. Copy and paste your assignments into Grammarly, and it’ll tell you all of the mistakes you’re making and why, so you’ll know for next time.

4. Duolingo

Do you need to learn another language for college or for travelling the world in your college break? Then Duolingo can help you with that. It has lots of fun and educational games where you can earn points and level up. The Duolingo owl is quite cute and very good at guilt tripping you into studying.

5. Forest

When you need to study without any distractions, Forest is for you. When you want to focus, plant a tree in the app and set a timer. If you leave the app, your poor tree will die! The more trees you grow, the more coins you’ll get to spend on planting real trees around the world. It’s great for productivity and the environment.

6. Headspace

College can get quite overwhelming at times which is where Headspace comes in handy. It has a number of different meditations techniques for a range of things such as stress, sleep, and focus. The sessions are bite-sized so you can fit them into your busy schedule. You’ll be practicing mindfulness in no time.

7. Spotify

Spotify allows you to search through millions of songs and listen to them for free. It’s perfect for curating playlists for parties, especially when everyone can add their favourite songs. Or you can curate a study playlist. There’s also a cheap premium option if you’re sick of listening to ads.

8. Mint

Mint makes budgeting easy which is exactly what you need when money is tight in college. It will create personalised budgets for you, alert you when your bills are due and give you some tips on how to save money.

9. Venmo

Transferring money is a task everyone in college is familiar with after joint dinners and Uber rides. Venmo makes paying back your friends and family super easy and does it in a cute messaging format.

10. Uber Eats

Don’t feel like cooking? Want to eat delicious restaurant quality food or just want a burger to get you through studying? Then you need Uber Eats. Choose from a wide variety of food from a number of different restaurants and get it delivered straight to you.

Drinking will never be the same again thanks to Cocktail Flow. It’s perfect for parties or a night in. Tell the app what ingredients you have, and it’ll tell you what drinks you can make from them. How convenient! You can also search through hundreds of cocktail recipes to find just the one you’re after.

14. IntelliDrink

Once you’ve got your cocktails sorted, you’re going to need Intellidrink. It’s a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) calculator which analyses your consumption and tells you when you’ve exceeded your limit or fallen below it.

15. Circle of 6

Specially designed to prevent sexual violence and to make people feel safe, Circle of 6 is a must-have app. You can choose your circle of people you trust and let them know where you are if you’re alone at night or if you ever feel unsafe.
