5 Annoying AF Signs You Are The Youngest Of Your Friends

When you're the youngest of your friends, it's hard to relate to certain experiences. You love your girls, but these 5 struggles are hard to ignore.

Everyone knows that your girls are one of the most important things in your life, and your squad is essential to your well-being. But, it’s hard to relate to certain experiences sometimes, especially when you’re trailing behind the group in age. You love your girls, but these 5 signs make it obvious you’re the youngest of your friends.

1. 21st birthdays are painful for you

Everyone loves celebrating this milestone, but after your third time of being a DD, it can start to get old. You’ve contemplated buying a fake ID to keep up with your friends, or at least changing your appearance to look “of age”. 21+ bars are out of the question, and if you want to drink, you have to hurriedly pregame before everyone decides to go out. Then by the time you turn 21, everyone is over the “wild nights out” in favor of classy wine tastings or refined drinking. Talk about a let-down!

2. Your 18th birthday was “meh.”

When your oldest friends turned 18, they were flooded with “You’re legal!” jokes. When you turn 18, you’re hit with “Finally!”. Since you experienced all of the newfound opportunities with your friends, it didn’t seem as big of a deal when it came to you. It probably didn’t hit you that you can now buy lottery tickets or cigarettes until a few weeks later, since you were so used to your friends buying them for you.

3. You’ve restricted your friends from doing things more than once

It started with rated R movies and driving, then it escalated to going to bars and buying alcohol. When you’re the youngest of your friends, you have to become the planner of the friend group to make sure you don’t get screwed over, and you always have a backup plan on hand in case there’s a hidden age requirement for any of your plans. You’ve also learned the perfect position to stand behind all of your friends in hopes of not getting carded.

5. You’ve heard your fair share of “baby” and “youngster” jokes

While your friends are mostly respectful of your age difference, sometimes jokes slip out. You’re always on edge in the event of a random roasting, and have a list of comebacks ready at all times. You know most of the triggers, and try to change the subject when you feel it coming. No matter how many times you tell them that it’s getting old, they just can’t seem to stop, because you’re the youngest of your friends. Luckily, you’ll have the upper hand when they all turn 50 and you’re turning 49.
