12 Of The Cutest Animals You Never Knew Existed

We could all use a nice long break from all the junk that’s been in the media lately. No matter the platforms you use, you’ve probably been inundated with negative posts, political drama, and the like. What’s the best thing that a person can do to get their mind off of all this gloominess in the media? Looking at cute animals, of course! Let’s take a look at 12 insanely adorable animals you never knew existed.

1. Saiga antelope

This cute little thing is only found in Russia and a few areas in Kazakhstan. It’s sadly fallen under the “critically endangered” category in recent years, and has been a popular hunting target since prehistoric times.

2. Quokka

The quokka can be found chiefly in parts of Australia. It has been categorized as a “vulnerable” species, just one notch below endangered.

3. Tapir

Different types of tapirs can be found throughout South America, Central America, and Southeastern Asia. They really like spending time in and even under water! There are two types classified as endangered and two more that are vulnerable.

4. Blue parrot-fish

It looks like it has a permanent smile on its face! These fellows swim around in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Thankfully this fish is of “least concern,” meaning it’s not really in danger of becoming extinct or endangered any time soon.

5. Pygmy marmoset

Pygmy marmosets normally live in groups of 2-9 and are found mainly in the Amazon Basin. These are also of least concern of becoming endangered!

6. Dik-dik

Also a type of antelope, the dik-dik lives in Eastern and Southern African bushlands. They are of least concern for endangerment. This is one of the cutest animals you never knew existed!

7. Pudú

The pudu lives in many different regions of South America, and is, in fact, the world’s smallest deer! They are vulnerable to become endangered.

8. Pangolin

They live in southern areas of Asia and Africa and are threatened by poaching. Sadly, the poor things are illegally trafficked in places like Vietnam and China because they’re considered to be a delicacy. BUT LOOK AT THAT CUTE FACE!

9. Pika

The pika is a close cousin to the rabbit, but unlike their cousins they have no external tail. They live mainly in Asia with a couple species types residing in North America. They are at least concern for endangerment.

10. Baby mangabey

Mangabeys are apparently incredibly endangered and the most rare type of monkey on the Earth. They like chilling out in the trees in Africa.

11. Margay

The margay is found primarily in South America with some living in areas of Central America. They are nocturnal, which makes sense with those beautifully large eyes. They’re at the “near threatened” level on the endangered scale.

12. Golden brushtail possum

This possum is native to Australia. It is also nocturnal and its diet consists mainly of leaves. This cutie is at least concern for endangerment.
