An Everyday Makeup Routine Using All Drugstore Products

If you are looking to refresh your everyday makeup routine, you came to the right place! We know that buying new makeup products can get quite pricey, so here is an everyday makeup routine using only drugstore products.

1. Moisturizer

Moisturizer is super important to put on prior to makeup, even if you have oily skin. It will help hydrate your skin, and provide a smooth surface for the rest of your makeup to adhere to. If you do not moisturize, your foundation and concealer may settle into fine lines, cling to dry patches, and look a little cakey.

The drugstore has a ton of great moisturizers. Cerave’s Daily Moisturizing Lotion is one I highly recommend. It is great for all skin types, it is non-irritating, and costs $13 for an eight-ounce bottle.

2. Primer

Primers are made to make your foundation go on more smoothly, and make your makeup last longer. At the drugstore, you can find primers that are designed for specific skin needs. They have color correctors, primers designed for hydration, blemish control, and for blurring effects.

Check out the NYX Marshmallow Smoothing Primer, ELF Poreless Putty Primer, and NYX Color Correcting Primer.

3. Foundation

Foundations are super tricky to find. You want to get one that works well with your skin type, whether that is dry, oily, sensitive, acne-prone, mature, etc. Once you find that, decide what type of finish you want; matte, natural, or dewy, and then the coverage.

The following are some I recommend, do your research to figure out which one is best for you! LOreal True Match, Neutrogena Skin Clearing Liquid Makeup, Maybelline Fit Me Foundation (The dewy version and matte!), and Milani Conceal + Perfect.

Apply your foundation with the Real Techniques Beauty Sponge!

4. Concealer

After your foundation has been applied, you will want to apply your concealer. Choosing a shade that is a little bit lighter than your foundation will help to brighten and lift. Blend concealer out under your eyes, in the middle of the forehead, down the nose, and on the chin. If you have any blemishes to cover up, use a concealer that is the same shade as your foundation.

Check out the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer or ELF Camo Concealer.

5. Powder

To ensure that your foundation and concealer don’t go anywhere, you will need to set them with a powder. Powder can also reduce the appearance of oiliness, and help blur pores and fine lines. A light dusting of powder will do just fine! My personal favorite is the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder.

6. Bronzer

To give you that sunkissed glow, apply some bronzer to your temples, under the cheekbones, and lightly dust it across your nose.

If you prefer a cream bronzer, you will want to apply that before you put on any powders. A cream bronzer I suggest is the ELF Putty Bronzer. As for powder bronzers, check out the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer.

7. Blush

To bring some color back to the face, grab some blush! Cream or powder will do, but remember, apply any cream products prior to powder. Put blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards, and on the tip of the nose.

The drugstore has a lot of great blush options. ELF Cosmetics has both cream and powder blushes, and Colourpop’s Super Shock Blushes are some of my absolute faves.

8. Highligher

Highlighter is my favorite step of my makeup routine. Whether you like to look like a disco ball or have a subtle glow, the drugstore has got some amazing choices. Maybelline FaceStudio Master Chrome, Wet N Wild Mega Glo, and Morphe’s highlights are all worth checking out. They have different levels of intensities, and a bunch of different shades to choose from.

To apply your highlighter, use a fan brush to dust some on the tops of your cheekbones, on the bridge and tip of your nose, and on your cupid’s bow.

9. Brow Pencil

To get your eyebrows on point, you need to use a brow pencil. ELF’s Instant Lift Eyebrow Pencil is only $3.00, and it comes in five different shades. One end has the product, and the other end has a spoolie brush so you can brush out your brows after you fill them in.

10. Eyeshadow Palette

TBH, it just is not worth it to purchase single pan eyeshadows. An eyeshadow palette will give you shades that have been curated to create several different eye looks. At the drugstore, you can find neutral palettes, colorful ones, matte shades, glitters, and pretty much anything else you can think of.

I recommend shopping from Morphe for your eyeshadow palettes, they are inexpensive and you get so many shades!

11. Eyeliner

To create those cat eyes, wings, or even just a simple black line, grab a felt tip eyeliner. The Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner is my fave!

12. Mascara

The drugstore has SO many different mascara options. I can’t remember the last time I purchased a high-end mascara. Maybelline and Covergirl have a bunch of different ones.

13. Lip Products

Applying a lip product will complete the makeup look. You can do a chapstick, lipstick, gloss, lip liner, or lip stain. Personally, I love to do a gloss. My favorite is the NYX Butter Gloss!

14. Setting Spray

Alright, you are almost done! Now we just have to lock the makeup look into place with a setting spray. The drugstore has different options for these, too. If you are looking to help keep your skin matte, check out the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. If you want a glowy finish, opt for ELF’s Dewy Spray (it smells like coconuts!) and finally, use the Maybelline Lasting Fix Spray if you want your makeup to last all day.

Have fun doing your makeup everybody! What other drugstore products do you like to use? Tell us your thoughts down below!
