10 Amazing Van Conversions That Will Make You Want To Join The Van Life
Van conversions are becoming increasingly popular because of a mixture of convenience and affordability. When it comes to the owners of van conversions, it’s usually single people, who travel a lot because of their work, or couples (who basically do the same). Just like tiny houses van conversions are made to reflect the needs and style of their owners (vans could be classified in the category of tiny houses, but they also have a whole separate “movement”).
You may have heard of the #VanLife. It’s basically a more interesting way of grouping together people who are interested in living in a van conversion. Whether it is on a pursuit to a more minimalist lifestyle, because of work or because you want to spend more time on the road.
Whether you are thinking of downsizing or you are just want to learn more about them, these van conversions are definitely going to be a source of information and inspiration.
1. Trent And Allie’s Van
Trent and Allie are experienced when it comes to van conversions. This is their second van conversion. Their van is wonderful. You can see natural wood all around, a beautiful colour on the cabinets and storage. It’s designed for full-time living, equipped with all the essentials.
Here’s a little introduction from them (from the link in YouTube): We’re Trent and Allie and this is our second van build. It’s been an incredible journey and we’re only getting started! Follow us on our adventures mountain biking and exploring the outdoors across the US in our freshly built home on wheels
2. Jannelle Eliana’s Van
It’s rare for van conversions to have this much personality. This van really is a reflection of its owner. It’s so interesting to see how different people organise and create their own ideal spaces. And when it comes to such a small canvas, you have to really work to show the best of your personality, while also working on functionality.
Here’s a bit about Jannelle Eliana from the description: I’m 20 years old and I’ve been living in this self-converted 1995 GMC Vandura Explorer Limited for sometime now. I’m so stoked to finally be here on YouTube. Stay tuned for some wild and not so wild adventures. Hope you enjoyed this tour of my humble home.
3. Off-Grid Van For Travelling
Something that really attracts people when it comes to van conversions is the possibility of leaving off-the-grid. It provides the couple living in it with all the essentials. They use a solar panel on the roof for their electricity (for their electronics, fridge, lights, etc). The design is beautiful with a fantastic chalk board wall, which changes design ever so often.
4. This Cute Compact Camper
This is one of the tiniest van conversions I’ve seen, but it’s also one of the cutest. It has some amazing features such as the splash-back of the “kitchen” which is made up of colourful patterned tiles. A fantastic rustic sink, which is made form a repurposed brass pan. The interior is very light and features a great map of the world. And the lights are just touch, no switches! Wow!
5. Sara and Alex’s Van
Sara and Alex live in a van conversion with their dogs Bambi and Nugget. They are very experienced when it comes to van conversions, they actually convert vans for living. And they do a wonderful job. They also provide guides to people who want to build their van on alone.
6. Wild We Roam’s Van
You can check out the Wild We Roam Instagram here. You’ll see not only a great van conversion, but some amazing pictures from travels. Their van conversion is really cute and homey and their tour of the van is very detailed.
Here’s what they say about themselves: Ody is a 38 year-old Mercedes 307D van that we originally bought in Germany. Lou and I taught ourselves everything we needed to know to complete this DIY van build on YouTube. It took us 6 months to convert our rusty old camper van with an ancient interior into our perfect tiny home. We’re now traveling Europe living out our van life dream.
7. Ever Changing Horizon On Instagram’s Awesome Van Conversion
Here’s what the owner says about the van: The process of designing, and constructing it felt nearly identical to when I create a photo. Starts with a vision that I can’t get out of my head, then the research, finally commitment to the undertaking, and no stopping till it’s done. I had 60 square feet to work with. And was able to squeeze in a kitchen + dining table, office, bathroom, couch, full bed, heater, ventilation cooling, solar setup w/ battery bank, storage for my gear, oh and there’s an iPad movie theater too. Feels pretty luxurious (for a car). (Instagram)
8. An Amazing Work In Progress
This van is not finished yet, but it already looks amazing and it might just inspire you enough to take the leap into the Van Life. Though that might mostly be thanks to the amazing pictures on their Instagram. This is another second conversion, though you can still easily find the first on Instagram
See what they say about their new conversion: Something that has always bugged me about living is a van that your whole house becomes just one room…So for this build we’ve added a separate bedroom and this half completed shell already feels like home (Instagram)
9. This Family’s Van Adventure
This is definitely one of the most amazing van conversions out there. It is spectacular. A family of four lives in this van and it is definitely one of the larger vans out there. Think of its size as something between a van and a bus (or, well, a small bus). The van conversion is almost as cute as the pictures on the family’s Instagram.
Here’s what the family says about their life: “The best education you will ever get is traveling. Nothing teaches you more than exploring the world and accumulating experiences.” We’re almost ready to head off on the next leg of our journey and we can’t wait to see what lessons we will learn as individuals and as a family along the way. (Instagram)
10. Homer The Roamer
Van conversions don’t always have the best names. they are usually named somewhat unimpressively. Home the Roamer is another story. That’s a great name for a van! The van conversion itself is also really interesting, especially with this hanging bed that can be pulled up and down. It’s also one of the most compact van conversions out there. Truly, it is a very impressive conversion, given its small size.
Here’s a sneak peak of van life for you: Keeping on top of van clutter is a constant battle. In an ideal world we would just tidy as we go and the van would be this perfect every day… Even with both beds setup it only takes 10 minute to clean up the van, but we’re lazy and that seems like a lot of work all at once (Instagram)
