I’m sure a lot of people were super excited about the release of Disney Plus. From television shows, movies, and National Geographic – you have many options to choose from when it comes to having the Disney Plus app. If you were born in the 90’s, you probably miss the Disney you grew up watching and still remember watching Lizzie McGuire after school. Thanks to Disney Plus, you can find much more than just childhood shows that make you nostalgic, you can also find movies you might have loved but forgotten about! Here’s what to check out again if you downloaded Disney Plus.
If you had this movie on DVD, or were just a big Lindsay Lohan fan – then you’ll be happy to know Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen is on Disney Plus. The Coca Cola bottle cap necklace, the iconic scene of Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan rushing through the school doors to find out their parts, and of course, “Drama Queen (That girl)” by Lindsay.
I remember having the Stuck In The Suburbs soundtrack on CD and thinking Jordan Cahill was the best singer ever. Taran Killam’s character, Jordan Cahill became a musical icon in the pop world (especially to Brenda Song and Danielle Panabaker.) After Jordan’s assistant’s phone with his music on it ends up in Danielle Panabaker’s purse after getting lost in the crowd, we all get to watch his crazy lifestyle changes. You can relive the pop madness on Disney Plus, and remember Taran Killam when he was Jordan Cahill with highlighted hair before he was on Saturday Night Live.
There was truly nothing on Disney like Smart House – a movie that made a house way too technologically advanced for the late 90’s and even now. What’s even more nostalgic about Smart House is that Ben Cooper (Ryan Merriman) found the chance to win this house programmed by Pat (Katey Segal) through an ad in the newspaper. Pat, who ran the Smart House could make smoothies appear, clean up messes in the kitchen, and became a mother who stopped the Cooper’s dad from dating. It was bizarre and cool at the time, and looking back it’s just as crazy to see how Pat operated the Smart House.
If you remember watching this Disney movie around Halloween, now on Disney Plus you can stream it whenever. It’s so funny looking back and thinking this movie was kind of scary at the time. But, it was about vampires, so obviously it had to be a little strange. If you have not seen Mom’s Got A Date With A Vampire or forgot the plot, two kids try to get their mom on a date so they can go out, and it ends up taking such a turn for the worse, they have to call the famous vampire hunter.
Yes, another early 2000’s movie we once watched on Disney channel and might have forgotten about until it was added to Disney Plus. Basically, Pete (Taylor Handley) gets a job at his local movie theater and then everything weird begins to follow on the night he’s working there. Phantom Of The Megaplex is not just a movie for around Halloween, it’s another great throwback Disney Channel original.
The 2003 remake of Freaky Friday starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan should be considered a classic of the 2000’s if it is not already. When Anna (Lindsay Lohan) and Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis & Anna’s mom) wake up and find that they have switched places, this movie is hilarious all the way through. Let’s also not forget the best scene of total heartthrob, Jake (Chad Michael Murray) singing Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” outside Lindsay Lohan’s window. Iconic, seriously.
When Even Stevens met Lizzie McGuire – Cadet Kelly became a Disney channel original movie. Cadet Kelly starred Hilary Duff from Lizzie McGuire, and Christy Carlson Romano from Even Stevens. Jennifer, (Christy Carlson Romano) became the drill sergeant of Kelly (Hilary Duff) after she was sent to military school. Along with lessons about friendship, this movie was always super funny and showed us just how hard military school actually looks.
No movie soundtrack says 2000’s like Michelle Branch and Jesse McCartney, and Aly & AJ – yes, Ice Princess was another great Disney movie with a catchy soundtrack that had solid pop hits. If you don’t remember this movie, Casey (Michelle Trachtenberg) was super smart when it came to school, but wanted more to do with learning how to ice skate than anything else. Ice Princess follows Casey’s passion for ice skating and following her dreams.
Like Ice Princess, but way more competitive and dramatic – Brink! is another sporty Disney movie. Brink! follows Andy (Erik Von Detten) and Val (Sam Horrigan) who are rollerblader rivals but also end up on the same skating team when Andy has to join Val’s team. Through this movie, we totally learned the definition of soul skating, lessons of friendship, and doing something for no other reason than you’re passionate about it – like skating.
One movie that was totally unrealistic but for some reason, a lot of us watched it growing up and thought it was cool, was the fantasy Disney Channel movie “The Thirteen Year.” If you don’t remember The Thirteenth Year, all you need to know is Cody (Chez Starbuck) turns into a mer-man when he turns thirteen. It is yet another Disney movie that had elements that couldn’t be real, like finding out your mother was a mermaid. But, it is still a classic Disney Channel original movie that has made its way now onto Disney Plus.
