All Of The San Diego Summer Activities You Need To Try On Vacation
While San Diego is certainly known for its beautiful beaches, there are so many activities you can take part in while on vacation that are far from limited to sunbathing in the sand! Here’s a few of these endless options!
Kayak in La Jolla
La Jolla is one of the best places in San Diego to truly get to experience the beautiful wildlife and scenery! So if you are someone who loves exploring the ocean and going on a true adventure, then kayaking in La Jolla is the perfect activity for you!
I recommend booking a guided tour through the La Jolla caves in order to have the best kayaking experience possible! Depending if you would prefer going in a large group or more of a private tour, there are different options you can choose from! Just make sure to book your tour far in advance because spots fill up quickly!
Do the 59 Mile Scenic Drive
This is a fun San Diego activity that won’t cost you anything but some gas money! This scenic drive encompasses all different elements of San Diego’s beauty! You will get to see unique neighborhoods, views of the bay, different downtown hotspots, and so much more! I definitely don’t want to give too much away, because I want you to be able to experience this in your own eyes!
Throw together a killer playlist, grab some road trip snacks, and enjoy the ride with your friends! This is something you DEFINITELY need to do at some point of your San Diego vacation!
Visit the San Diego Zoo
While vacationing in San Diego, visiting the zoo is a great way to spend a day! This is especially fun if you are vacationing with little kiddos or siblings, but it can honestly be fun for all ages!
You can either visit all of the different exhibits throughout the MASSIVE zoo or dedicate the day to one of the “safari adventures” held at the park, but you definitely will not be let down regardless of what you choose throughout your stay at the San Diego Zoo!
Go to Sunset Cliffs National Park
Sunset Cliffs National Park is one of the most beautiful places to visit in San Diego! The park stretches across the Point Loma shoreline and provides the PERFECT view of the beautiful ocean and skyline.
This would be a great destination for a sunset picnic after a busy day adventuring throughout the city! All you need is a blanket and some food, and you have the perfect activity at Sunset Cliffs National Park! I would DEFINITELY suggest checking this place out!
Stroll Through Balboa Park
Walking around Balboa Park is a great way to get to gain a sense of history and culture of San Diego as a city! Depending on when you’re visiting San Diego, chances are that there is SOMETHING going on in Balboa Park, whether it be a food truck festival or a massive parade.
There is always something fun and exciting in the park, making it no question why it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in San Diego! Also, the museums and gardens are always there and always welcoming, so regardless of the added events in the area, there is reason to stroll through Balboa Park all throughout the year!
Visit the Cat Cafe
Okay so I know that this is definitely an activity that applies more towards a specific crowd and might not apply to everyone reading these, but I had to include it anyways! The Cat Cafe is such a fun and unique spot in San Diego that it’s definitely worth your time while on vacation.
There is something about being able to play with cats while enjoying delicious coffee and pastries that can relieve any sort of travel stress or anxiety you might have while on vacation. Who knows, maybe a visit here will turn you into a cat lover, and you won’t be able to leave San Diego without adopting a new feline friend!
RELAX
San Diego is beautiful. Why overbook your vacation with too many activities that will leave you drained? While all other ideas in this list are incredibly fun and worth your while, make sure to leave at least a day to just relax on the beach and enjoy San Diego’s beauty in all of its entirety!
