Truth be told, aside from the classic root beer float, soda and ice cream can be a bit of an acquired taste, and when that includes alcohol, even doubly so. For those who possess said acquired taste, or maybe just an adventurous sweet tooth, look no further than this fine collection of alcoholic floats that will sate your sweet tooth all summer long! From orange creamsicle to a spiked version of the classic root beer float, you can’t go wrong!
A heavy, boozy twist on a classic mocktail that will have you reminiscing about simpler times full of summer fun and cavities. A traditional Shirley Temple would call for a lemon-lime soda such as sprite, however, I like to use ginger ale when I’m mixing it with alcohol, as it does a better job of concealing an otherwise overwhelming boozy flavor. To make it, you will be needing the following ingredients:
Ginger ale
Hard cherry seltzer
Vanilla or cherry ice cream
Lime
1/2 cup of maraschino cherries
2 tablespoons of the juice from the maraschino cherries
1 tablespoon of grenadine
Whipped cream
Directions:
In the glass, throw in your grenadine, cherry juice, and lime juice, as well as half of the cherries.
With consideration for the space in your glass that the ice cream will take, fill the remaining space with half ginger ale and half seltzer.
Add ice cream and remaining cherries.
Top with whipped cream and you’re done!
