15 Affordable Fashion Looks To Try This Spring

From what we’ve seen with the fashion weeks throughout the world, we’re predicting this spring 2020 season to be full of vivid colors, feminine designs, and 70s and 80s inspired features. Plus, from what we’ve seen, it’s almost as if modesty is coming back into fashion as mini skirts and plunging necklines are often replaced with palazzo pants and high-collared button-up shirts. To give you an idea of what we’re talking about we’ve compiled a list of our favorite high-end spring looks and where you can find similar styles at a much better price point. Here are fifteen affordable fashion looks to try this spring.

1. Hot Pink Anything

This past year or so, stereotypical girly colors like bright pink have taken the fashion world by storm. From Elle Fanning’s Barbie-inspired Met Gala 2019 ensemble (who could forget those nails) to young women rocking pink statement pieces like a magenta lip or a pair of salmon slacks, one may dare to even say that pink is the new black (notice we said may)! You don’t have to go full-on flamingo like the fabulous look below, but if you get the chance, try out different pink pieces that pair nicely with your hair, eyes, and skin tone.

2. Oversized Cable Knit Sweaters

Think that cute woolen sweaters are just for grandmothers? Think again! In the image below, the slight v-neck nicely complements the conservatism of the sweater, making for a balanced ensemble. And the satin pants and glam accessories? That’s a combination we never knew we needed.

3. 80s’-Inspired Long Sleeves

Just because a few fashion pieces in the 80s’ were a little…odd by today’s standards, they had a few key pieces that were super flattering! Higher collars and puffed long sleeves are one of those 80’s trends that we’re going to be seeing a lot more of this spring. When paired with an A-line skirt like the one below, a long puffed- shoulder ensemble gives the illusion of a proportionate hourglass figure without requiring the wearer to buy any shapewear.

4. Fit & Flare Florals

Jane Austen lovers, rejoice! Cascading, voluminous, calf-length frocks are proving to be more popular than ever. The dress below is so flattering and classic we’re surprised that it isn’t straight out of an Audrey Hepburn movie. That being said, a sort of abstraction/ modernity in the picture below sets the look apart from those timeless styles we’re so used to (with it’s larger print and beige canvas), making it more appropriate for 2020.

5. Pleated Pastels

Ever see retro photos of French women sitting by the beach, wearing tailored cotton dresses that dance gracefully in the wind? Well, even if you haven’t, you can get one for yourself! This two-tone button-down dress, with its belted waist, strategic pleats, and artfully placed contrasting elements (like the cityscape in the middle of the skirt) make for an effortlessly fascinating outfit (so much so that you don’t even have to go too crazy with your makeup). While the same dress may be tricky to find (especially at a low price), try experimenting with pastel-colored skirts and dresses.

6. Vintage Flare Jeans

Casual clothes are finally getting the fashion spotlight they deserve! This look adds interest and polish to a 70s’-style ensemble by adding a button-down linen shirt and what appears to be a green corduroy trench. The jeans especially look so authentic- with the more relaxed wear at the hip and the slight acid wash, a pair of flares could be your new go-to pants.

7. White On White

It seems as if dark clothes are taking a break until next fall and winter. But pristine white blouses and flowing pants will be everywhere this spring! If you’re a little opposed to wearing all-white, you can start with a white top or bottom and see if you like them on their own, then pair them together! Word to the wise: if you have a white shirt, spray the armpits with hairspray after you take it off. This will prevent it from yellowing.

8. Emerald Green Frock

Maybe we’re expecting a season full of new life and greener grass, or maybe the fashion world is just drawn to rich emerald green tones when it comes to spring wear. Whatever the case, we’re sure that any woman can rock a green dress just like the one Adrianna’s wearing below. This style is incredibly classy, too- a dress like this envelops the wearer in mystery while drawing attention to their collarbones, neck, and eyes.

9. Something Satiny

We love how this spring is bringing together classic styles from many different backgrounds. This particular look, an Asian-inspired dress made of silver satin or silk and covered in embroidered flowers simply takes our breath away! Feel free to put your spin on it- anything resembling silk or satin is sure to shine this spring!

10. Costume Jewelry

You don’t have to be a billionaire to rock a neck of pearls! When it comes to jewelry this year, it’s almost as if the more theatrical your piece looks, the better. We love the way this emerald and pearl neckpiece look vintage and chic. It’d also go great with a more modern dress or shirt.

11. Cat Eye Sunglasses

We love a lot of things about this outfit (as well as most outfits that the Olsen twins wear out and about), but we especially love the extra pizzazz a pair of cat eyes cat add: they draw attention to your cheekbones, they add old Hollywood glamour, and they look great on nearly any face shape.

Super gentle on hair and incredibly stylish-need we say more? Copy this Italian-originated trend by looping a mock designer patterned silk scarf around a low bun or ponytail. Bellissima!

Want that London flair without the airfare? Put on a generous-sized hounds’ tooth coat over your bright outfit for a sophisticated edge.

This spring 2020 is all about having fun and doing things you wouldn’t normally do, and this complementary outfit fits that idea perfectly! Pair together a top and a bottom on the opposite side of the color wheel (such as orange and purple, or some variation of them) and you might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
