Things went from 0 to 100 real fast for the stars of ABCs hit TV show, “Roseanne,” after the shows namesake, Roseanne Barr, went on a racist Twitter rant on the morning of Tuesday, May 29th. Some of Roseanne’s Tweets have been deleted following the publics reaction.
Roseanne took to Twitter with racially offensive comments regarding Valerie Jarett, an African-American woman who served as senior adviser to Mr. Obama throughout his presidency. The since deleted Tweet read as such, “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”
After receiving much backlash for her tweet, Roseanne issued an apology statement. Or two.
Just hours later, ABC sent out an official statement canceling the reboot of “Roseanne” despite the popularity of the comeback season.
Only three months ago, the reboot of “Roseanne” was met with huge ratings, with pre-production for season 2 already underway.
Valerie Jarett was not the only target of Roseanne’s Tweets. She also targeted Chelsea Clinton and George Soros.
