5 Reasons To Avoid Senioritis In High School

1. No one likes a slacker.

Even if you don’t end up going to college, you still have to start working, and fair warning for you: most companies won’t take slackers. If you do decide to go to college, you have a long road still ahead of you and again, Professors won’t accept slack from students. So don’t let senioritis in high school get to you; keep working hard straight through to the very end and prove to your college, employer, or whoever else that you’ve got what it takes.

2. You’ll only be UN-preparing yourself for college.

High school is a breeze compared to college. College is like climbing up a ladder that has no steps…AKA really hard. High school teachers look after you, but college professors won’t – it’s up to you to make it through. If you start slacking off the last few months of high school, you’re only putting yourself in a lackadaisical mindset and are much more likely to have a hard time getting back into the swing of things when you start school in the fall.

3. You are opening the flood gates to procrastination.

Procrastination is the worst. We are all guilty of it – don’t deny it! If you let senioritis in high school get to you…you will begin procrastinating. Whether that means putting off applying for financial aid, avoiding textbook purchases or stalling on finishing up that last project you need to graduate – procrastination is not your friend. You have to get this stuff done at some point, so just do it. You’ll thank yourself in the long run.

4. Your college could reconsider your acceptance.

Getting into college is one of the greatest moments of your life – you are given the opportunity to further your education and pursue your passions. When senioritis in high school hits, you tend to push the important things (like maintaining a good GPA) aside. NOT GOOD. Even if you have already been accepted into college, if your grades begin to drop too low, there is still the chance the college could reconsider your acceptance. Then what?

5. You’ll have plenty of time to slack off over the summer.

Take it from someone who had a bad case of senioritis in high school: just don’t do it. Work hard all the way up to graduation, and as soon as you have that diploma in your hand, then you can kick back. You’ll have an entire summer to relax and prep yourself for the amazing times ahead of you.
