How to Transition Your Beauty Routine for Winter
With the quickly approaching winter months comes shorter, colder and drier days. This means that it is essential to switch up your beauty routine to combat the new elements your skin is exposed to. Here are some tips to transition your beauty routine for winter.
1. Exfoliate
Starting with the basics we’ll look at general skincare. Since during the winter skin starts to get drier, you’ll need a good exfoliator to get rid of all of the old and dead skin. Though exfoliating your face every once in a while is a good thing, as the saying goes; ‘too much of a good thing can be bad for you.’ You do not want to exfoliate your face every day, I repeat, you should not exfoliate every day. I recommend twice a week, or at the most, three times a week. Whatever days you don’t exfoliate your face you should use a good cleanser to clean all the oil and dirt off that accumulates throughout the day.

2. Tone
After cleaning your face you should use a good toner. Toners are good for people who have oily or combination skin, or for people who just want the extra cleansing after wearing makeup or other heavy skin care products all day. If you want a natural option, try dabbing a bit of apple cider vinegar on your face.

3. Apply Serum
After you’ve used toner to get rid of all the residual dirt and oil, your pores will be clean and open. Since your pores are now open, it’s easier for them to absorb the next product you apply. This product may be something that you haven’t come across before in your beauty routine, but has recently been gaining lots of attention. I am referring to serum. Serums are becoming well-known these days and are said to have extremely good moisturizing qualities as they are packed with essential vitamins for healthy skin. I personally use “Goodal Phytorain Murumuru Seed Hydra Serum” from Meme box. I apply it right after my toner and have noticed that my face is able to absorb and hold more moisture than before.

4. Moisturize
After applying the serum to your face, it’s time for you to put on a moisturizer. Since the winter months offer drier days, it’s best to apply a thicker moisturizer that really penetrates and moisturizes the skin.

6. Switch your regular face cleanser out.
After using a specific cleanser for a while your face can get used to it. Switching cleansers may be the thing to get your skin back to responding to the ingredients in the cleanser.

7. Wear less or lighter makeup.
Heavy makeup products are more likely to get stuck in your pores and take more work to get out when cleaning your face. If you do wear heavy makeup make sure to use good cleaners and a toner to really dig deep to clean your face and clear out your pores.
