How To Make Aesthetically Pleasing Coffee
Aesthetically pleasing coffee is all about presentation. It’s about the type of mug you use, the cold foam art, the swirls of the creamer and coffee mixing together, and all the creative things your inner barista can think of. I’m addicted to coffee, so I’m always looking for new ways to change it up. Here are 9 tips on how to make an aesthetically pleasing coffee.
1. Cappuccino Cups
To make an aesthetically pleasing cup of hot coffee, you’ll need a cappuccino cup. A nice hot cup of coffee needs to be in an equally nice cup. A cappuccino style cup will make your coffee look like you ordered it at a real coffee shop. I’ve always loved collecting mugs. I get them at Ollie’s, Bargain Hunt, Ikea, or anywhere else I can get a good deal on a unique looking mug. Any color, pattern, or size will do, as long as it is a cappuccino style cup. These type of cups look the best with cold foam art.
2. Glass Cups
Glass cups are the best choice for making an aesthetically pleasing iced coffee. You want to be able to see the swirls of the coffee and creamer mixing together. Any glass cup will do. You can use a can shaped glass, a jar glass, a ridged glass, a square glass, or any other fun shaped glass. The more unique, the better. Everyone has seen iced coffee, so the more crazy your glass looks, the more Instagram worthy it will be.
3. Specialty Ice
To make an aesthetically pleasing iced coffee, you need specialty ice. You can get specialty ice with ice molds. They can be any shape you want. Butterflies, stars, spheres, or cubes. If you want to add some minty flavor to your coffee, try freezing mint leaves in with the ice molds. This is another reason why you should use a glass cup when making iced coffee. You’ll be able to see the cool ice you made and make your coffee Instagram post look even better.
4. Coffee Ice
The worst part about iced coffee is that when the ice melts, it waters down the coffee. You can avoid this by making coffee ice. Use your ice molds to freeze the coffee, so when the ice melts it only adds more coffee to your drink instead of making it watery. You can also freeze your creamer to make creamer ice. Fill your ice molds with half coffee and half creamer and have both types of ice in your coffee.
5. Coffee Jelly
To make an aesthetically pleasing iced coffee, try adding coffee jelly to your drink. This coffee jelly recipe serves 4 and is super easy to make. To make coffee jelly, you’ll need 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin powder, 1/4 cup of water, 2 cups of brewed strong black coffee, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. In a small bowl, combine the gelatin powder and the water. In a medium sized saucepan, combine the coffee and the sugar and bring to a near boil over medium-high heat. Turn off the heat and whisk in the gelatin mixture until it dissolves. Set it aside and let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes. Pour the coffee gelatin mixture into a shallow baking dish and refrigerate for at least 5 hours or until it sets. Once the coffee jelly has set, cut it into 1/2 inch cubes. Scoop out the jelly and add it to your coffee.
6. Dalgona
Dalgona is the perfect way to make your coffee aesthetically pleasing. It can be used for both hot and cold drinks. It’s super easy to make and you only need four ingredients. To make dalgona coffee you’ll need 1 tablespoon of instant coffee, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of hot water, and 1 cup of hot or cold milk. Whisk the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water together until it has creamy, stiff peaks. Dollop it on top of the milk and enjoy. You can add any toppings you want to help make it look cool.
7. Coffee Foam Art
Coffee art is the best way to make an aesthetically pleasing cup of hot coffee. You can make anything you want. Learning how to make art with steamed milk is a cool skill to have. Try making the classic three layered heart design, then move on to something more advanced. You’ll be able to enjoy a steamed milk masterpiece without having to go to a coffee shop. With a lot of practice you’ll be able realistic and detailed art with the foam. You could dedicate an entire social media profile to making advanced coffee foam art. If you don’t have a steamer at home, you can make the foam in the microwave. Pour your milk in a jar, put on the lid, then vigorously shake it. Take off the lid, then microwave it for 30 to 60 seconds. This should help you froth the milk with an espresso machine.
8. Baked Goods
Since aesthetically pleasing coffee is all about presentation, serve it with a delicious baked good, like brownies, muffins, or macaroons. Coffee shops always sell baked goods, so this is the best way to make your coffee look like you ordered it. I prefer chocolate treats with my coffee, but you can bake whatever you want.
9. Get Creative
To make aesthetically pleasing coffee, you need to get creative. Add ice cream to your coffee and make a coffee float. Make a coffee milkshake topped with Cocoa Puffs. I like to top my hot coffee with marshmallows, and I use whipped cream for iced coffee with caramel and chocolate sauce drizzled on top. The more creative your coffee looks, the better. There is no limit to how you can make your coffee. The uniqueness of your coffee is what’s going to help it stand out and look aesthetically pleasing.
