8 Drama Series You Need To Binge Now
If you’re a big Netflix watcher like myself, I find the best shows are those suspenseful dramas that you find yourself finishing over a span of two days. Here are 8 Drama Series You Need To Binge Now if you’re looking for the perfect new show to start!
When you’ve been busy lately and just want to chill, starting a new show is a great way to take your mind off the real world. My favorite genre of TV shows have always been dramas with a binge worthy plot and some crazy characters with intense backstories. This list of drama series to binge include some brand new shows that are currently airing and some older favorites that I can admit I’ve binged more than once. All of these drama series can be found on streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, so you’re bound to find one to start now! Grab your favorite snack or a glass of wine and enjoy!
1. Tell Me Your Secrets
If you are an American Horror Story fan and love Lily Rabe, you must consider watching Tell Me Your Secrets as your next drama series to binge. Lily Rabe does an excellent job at portraying her character (as usual) making this series an ultimate thriller drama favorite of mine. The show follows three main characters, Emma, John, and Mary who each have their own troubling past. Emma is the former girlfriend of a serial killer, who spent time in jail for covering him. John is a former serial predator looking for a fresh start to his new life, and Mary is a grieving mother who is obsessed with finding her missing daughter and looking for answers. All three characters are somehow connected, making for a thrilling plot that will leave you with so many questions at the end.
2. Sharp Objects
Another favorite actress of mine is Amy Adams, who plays the main character in Sharp Objects. This Hulu show revolves around a crime reporter (Adams) who recently has been released from a psychiatric hospital after suffering from alcoholism and self harm. She returns to her hometown to investigate murders of young girls, but gets caught up in reuniting with her mother who is a critical socialite living in their small town of Wind Gap, Missouri. So much more unfolds when Adam’s character returns home and their are so many plot twists you will not have seen coming.
3. You
Probably the most popular drama series to binge on this list is the popular Netflix show You. If you haven’t seen You yet, you’re truly missing out on one of the craziest recent psychological thriller series that fans know and love. Penn Badgley stars as the infamous serial killer Joe, who fans hate to admit they feel for. Joe has a wild past that causes him to act the way he does, developing obsessive crushes over several different women. The show recently came out with its third season, but a fourth season is said to be in the works. So much happens over the course of the three seasons, so once you start watching you’ll probably find yourself finishing the series in less than a week
4. Big Little Lies
Big Little Lies is another intense drama series to binge, yet it offers a more comedic take than other shows on the list. This show revolves around an amazing cast of women actresses such as Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Zoë Kravitz. It tells the story based off the 2014 novel showing the stories of five different women living in the beautiful town of Monterey, California. They all become involved in an intense murder investigation, while juggling their busy lives at home with their husbands and children. This show has received a numerous amount of awards for the amazing acting, writing, and cinematography.
5. Midnight Mass
Midnight Mass is one of the newest shows on my list of drama series to binge, but this supernatural horror series is one you can’t miss. The series focuses on a small, religious island community who are surprised when a new priest arrives to save the town that seems to be falling apart. Once the charismatic priest comes to town, strange things start happening, some involving crazy miracles, and other not so good events. This show is from the same creators of the series Haunting of Hill House, which is another great drama series not mentioned on this list.
6. 9 Perfect Strangers
Nicole Kidman does an excellent job at portraying a Russian owner of a health and wellness resort known as the Tranquillum House. The Hulu series follows 9 strangers who go to Tranquillum for all different reasons, but find themselves forming a strong bond as they all relate to their past traumas that come up through intense therapy sessions with Kidman’s character, Masha. Many unlikely events occur during the guest’s stay at Tranquillum, forcing their true identities to come out when you least expect it.
7. Little Fires Everywhere
Little Fires Everywhere is a miniseries that tells the story of two mothers and their families who hav e very different lives, yet somehow become involved with one another. There is the wealthy Richardson family who seems to be the picture-perfect family on the outside, and a single mother and her daughter struggling to make ends meet. The rich mother, Elena, encounters the single mother, Mia, when she sees Mia living in her car, offering a home for Mia’s family of two to stay at for a while. After this, the two women become intertwined in each other’s lives, making for a crazy ending that will leave you shocked.
8. The Sinner
The last drama series to binge is one of my personal favorites that focuses on a different story line each season. However, the main character detective Harry Ambrose stars in each season, looking into the past of each main character who he somehow becomes involved with. In my opinion, the first season is the best, focuses around Ambrose’s investigation on a troubled woman who stabbed a man to death. She does not know why she did this, based on her past trauma, so Ambrose makes it his goal to solve the mystery that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
