8 Badass Female Character Inspired Cocktails To Make For Girl’s Night
One of the best ways to do girl’s night is to do a themed night and make cocktails that fit the chosen theme. One of my favorite themes is badass female character night. Everyone is asked to make some girl’s night cocktails that reflect or are inspired by some of the best female characters in the world. Whether they be from movies, tv shows, or books, each cocktail reflects a female character that is a badass to whoever has made the drink. Then the entire group sits around and enjoys the cocktails while the movie or tv show that the badass female is in plays. Everyone can try out their bartending skills with these girl’s night cocktails, and the group can even pick which one is the best when the night is over. A movie night inspired by a badass female character is the best kind of girl’s night. And if you can’t think of any cocktails, here’s a list of 8 to start you off at least. Now here’s to badass females–characters, you, and your girlfriends–and happy drinking!
1. Blushing Dragon
We can’t have this list without including Mulan as one of our girl’s night cocktails. She was the first female when we were little girl’s that taught us that we could fight and be just as tough – if not tougher – than the boys if we really wanted to. Made with ingredients that reflect Asian culture, the Blushing Dragon is refreshing, tasty, and a perfect recipe for girl’s night cocktails.
- 1 1/2 jigger vodka
- 1/4 jigger cointreau
- 1/3 jigger lemon juice
- 1/2 jigger syrup
- 4 strawberries
- 6 raspberries
- 6 blueberries
- 1/2 a mango
Blend the liquor and fruit with ice then pour into a tall glass. Garnish glass with half a strawberry and float a chopped strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry in the drink.
2. Black Widow
One of the best and most badass Avengers is Black Widow and you can’t tell me otherwise. The woman fights without having any sort of powers or high-tech suit and she beats every one of the men she fights. So we have to have a Black Widow drink as one of our girl’s night cocktails. This cocktail is crimson just like Black Widows’ original hair and packs quite a punch, just like she would.
- 1 oz. raspberry liquor
- 1/2 oz. agave nectar
- 1 oz. vodka
- 2 oz. pomegranate syrup
- 2 oz. seltzer water
- simple syrup
- black sprinkles or red sanding sugar
- 1 1/2 cups of ice
- mint and strawberries to garnish
Rim glass with sprinkles or sanding sugar, set aside. In a blender, add all ingredients and blend for about 30 seconds. Pour into glass and garnish
3. The Girl On Fire
Katniss Everdeen is pretty badass if you ask me. She survives two Hunger Games and a massive war with the Capitol all with perseverance and a bow and arrow. This is why a drink inspired by her should be one of your girl’s night cocktails. This drink is great if you like Fireball and feel like serving up the demeanor of Katniss in a warm, autumn-like girl’s night cocktail (plus it’s super easy to make!)
- 1 bottle of hard cider
- 1 shot of fireball whiskey
Slowly pour the two together to reduce any foam. Garnish with some apple slices and enjoy!
4. Lizzie Bennet
We definitely couldn’t forget to include one of the most prominent women in literary history. She is the OG feminist character and deserves to be recognized and praised as one of our girl’s night cocktails. This drink is feminine, but also has a hint of bitterness just like her character. It’s sophisticated, not too handsome, and will make you feel like a proper English lady. My favorite female character and my favorite girl’s night cocktail for badass women’s night.
- 1 part gin
- 2 parts cold earl grey tea
- a dash of lavender syrup
Mix ingredients in a shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lavender sprig.
5. The Hermione Granger
No matter what anyone says, Hermione was the true hero in the Harry Potter movies and books. That boy would’ve gotten nowhere without the help of Hermione’s smarts and wits. Plus, she was just sassy enough when she needed to be and she punched Draco in the face. She definitely deserves to be on the list of girl’s night cocktails. This drink is sweet like Hermione, but also sophisticated enough to reflect her intelligence. It’s pretty, strong, and bubbly just like her and a perfect girl’s night cocktail.
- 2 tablespoons fresh or frozen raspberries
- 1-2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
- juice from half a lemon
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons raspberry jam
- 2 oz. vodka
- sparkling water for topping
- 2 fresh or frozen cherries for topping
Rim your glass with sugar, set aside. In a shaker, muddle the raspberries, rosemary, and lemon juice. Add the apple cider vinegar, jam, and vodka. Fill with ice and shake until combined. Strain into your glass. Top with sparkling water and stir gently to combine. Finish with a cherry on top.
6. Jo’s Gingerbread Toddy
Jo March is also one of my favorite women in literary history and also deserves to be included one of our girl’s night cocktails. Not only did she prove that a woman can be more than a pretty face and didn’t need no man to be satisfied with herself, she wrote a book and inspired all us “little women” to pursue our dreams no matter what they were. I studied English because of Jo March. This girl’s night cocktail is a reflection of Jo’s warmness, sweetness, and drive.
- 1 1/2 oz whiskey
- 3/4 oz. gingerbread simple syrup (made by combining 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon molasses, 1 tablespoon grated ginger, pinch of cinnamon, pinch of clove, water, and boiling it until dissolved)
- splash of blood orange juice
- dash of orange bitters
- hot water
Combine all the ingredients in a clear glass mug. Stir to combine. Garnish with a blood orange slice and a cinnamon stick.
7. Princess Leia
Even though Leia was royalty that didn’t mean that she couldn’t fend for herself. She was witty, knew how to use a gun, and eventually began the leader of the rebellion in the later films. If that doesn’t scream badass and make her worthy of her own spot on our list of girl’s night cocktails then I don’t know what will. This girl’s night cocktail is sweet but also strong and fearless like the princess. Plus it’s topped with fruit that looks like the iconic buns.
- 2 1/2 oz. gin
- 1/2 oz. simple syrup
- 1/2 oz. lemon juice
- 1/2 oz. lime juice
- 1/2 oz. luxardo maraschino
- raspberry liqueur
- 1 strawberry
- 2 blueberries
Add gin, simple syrup, lemon and lime juices, and Luxardo Maraschino to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Pour in Raspberry Liqueur until about 1 inch from the bottom of your glass. Top with a strawberry and blueberries on a toothpick to look like Princess Leia’s hairdo.
8. Wonder Woman
And rounding the list of badass female characters is none other than Diana, or Wonder Woman as most people know her. As one of the most badass female superheroes, Wonder Woman definitely deserves to be on our list of girl’s night cocktails. Plus, she has the coolest theme song. This cocktail is strong, brave, and fearless just like Diana, and will have you feeling like the badass woman that you are too. Perfect as a girl’s night cocktail because Diana is so cool and we couldn’t leave her out of this list.
- 1 oz. malibu rum
- 1 oz. mango rum
- 1 1/2 oz. cranberry juice
- 1 1/2 oz. orange juice
- 1 1/2 oz. pineapple juice
- 1 splash of grenadine
- ice
- gold sanding sugar
- simple syrup
Rim your glass with the gold sanding sugar, set aside to set. Fill glass with ice. Add the remaining ingredients into a shaker and shake to combine. Strain into your glass and enjoy!
