Fashion Trends That Need To Hit The Road
It’s no secret that we need to update our wardrobe from time to time, which includes letting go of fashion trends that need to pack their belongings hit the road. If you’re not sure which clothing pieces to say “Sayonara!” to, we’ve got you covered with a list of fashion fads that aren’t your friend. And don’t worry, we will tell you what to wear instead so you’re not completely lost in the world of trends!
1. Bell Sleeves
I know exactly what you’re thinking, “this retro-inspired look is all the FAB right now!” But we are here to tell you that it’s time to ditch this unconventional sleeve and replace them with something far more flirty and fun: puffy sleeves. Some may claim that these oversized sleeves are excessive, but we respectfully disagree. They not only make you seem like a princess, but they also give your outfit an interesting flair that is just as comfy as bell sleeves.
2. Tiny Sunglasses
Apart from the fact that they provide no UV protection, these tiny sunglasses do nothing except exaggerate the size of your head and are uncomfortable to wear because they just slide down your nose. Sunglasses are a must-have accessory for any outfit, so go for a more fashionable pair with some big cat-eye frames. These are far more practical and flattering; a bonus point is they make you look like a chic off-duty model.
3. Chunky Sneakers
I suppose we all knew chunky shoes were going to be one of those passing trends, but just in case you didn’t, here’s the reality check you needed. These shoes are for you if you want your feet to look heavy and bulky. For the rest of us, clunky sneakers can maybe be beneficial because they provide us with some height. Instead, opt for a pair of charming platform sneakers that don’t make you look like a dad.
4. Bell Bottom Jeans
This may be one of those older trends, but just in case it resurfaces, we’re here to put a stop to it. Sure, they’re cute if you style them just right, but they’re inconvenient in general. Those of us who are under 5’3 may be prejudiced, but these pants always appear to be unusually lengthy on individuals who wear them. Let’s just stick to cute mom jeans for now; you can’t go wrong!
5. Microbags
I am not sure whose idea it was to start carrying around miniature purses that don’t fit anything other than your keys, but I would love to have a serious chat with them. This is another one of those trends that screams nothing but impractical and uncomfortable, there are a lot of essentials we need to carry that simply will not fit in tiny bags. Don’t think for a second that means that massive bags are the answer, but settling for a medium-sized shoulder bag is definitely the way to go.
6. Expensive Basics
Although we all want to copy all of the celebrity trends, we absolutely need to stop dropping a bag on things that we can easily find for a much affordable price. Sure, Kylie and Kendall are rocking the cozy look with Yeezy slides and matching Skims sets but spoiler alert: They are millionaire celebs. There is no reason to have to pay a fortune for basic items; it is easy to follow these trends in a way that does not make your wallet scream. So, next time you see a celeb wearing something you love, find a reasonable alternative. Let’s stop letting celebs persuade us into buying overly expensive things in 2021.
7. Basic Color Combos
It’s 2021, it is time to ditch wearing basic color combinations like black and white. That isn’t to say that you don’t look cute, simply that there is such an easy way to amp up your ‘fit and casual color combinations are no longer the way to go. Instead, create a monochromatic look that is trendy, easy to curate, and incredibly stylish. By adding accessories or pops of color, you will look even better!
8. Tie Dye
Tie-Dye was a wonderful DIY activity for quarantine, but much like the retched 2020, it is just time to say bye-bye to tie-dye. We honestly don’t need a reminder of the things we needed to do when locked up in our homes desperate to find something to fill the time. Plus, 2021 has proven to be the year for neutrals. Beiges and browns are chic and trendy; not only that but there are so many ways to style these colors! I am welcoming neutrals with open arms, especially if they’re here to replace tie-dye.
9. Low-Rise Jeans
Don’t get me wrong: those who wear low-rise jeans look fantastic; but, this is one of those trends that is a certain way to undermine other people’s self-esteem. Unfortunately, the media’s portrayal of this fad has made it appear as if they are designed for a specific body type; in reality, they are simply uncomfortable and unsuitable.
That is why we recommend that you try high-waisted trousers instead. They are not only more comfortable, but they are also more fashionable and can be worn in a variety of ways. There are so many different colors, textures, and styles to choose from!
