Moving Storage Items To Pack Your Stuff In

Moving out can be a stressful time. We’ve all seen the Friends episode with the heavy couch, and know it’s going to take a lot more than screaming “PIVOT” to get your belongings packed and ready to go! The chaos that comes from packing, planning, and uprooting your comfort zone is oftentimes more than any of us can handle alone! So check out these nifty moving storage items that are guaranteed to help make your moving day a little bit easier.

Suitcase

Using a suitcase to pack your belongings in is the perfect way to maximize storage space while resuing a practical product. Suitcases typically have a lot of room and they are easy to store in tight places, making them a prime moving storage item, especially if you are looking to save money. If you already have a suitcase, that’s great! Use it and stuff it to the max! If you don’t have a suitcase, consider investing in one because there will come a day when you need it anyway.

Reusable Giant Tote Bags

Giant tote bags are good for more than just packing, which is why you should consider purchasing these on moving day! Not only are they very spacious, but they are strong and can hold a lot of weight. The shoulder straps allow for easy transportation to a U-Haul or your car. And, the best part is you can reuse them for pretty much anything! Grocery shopping, camping, a day at the beach, you name it! These tote bags are multi-purposeful and will definitely be worth the money!

Vacuum Storage Bags

If you want to save the most space while moving, then you need to get vacuum storage bags. You can use these bags to store your big quilts, coats, blankets, comforters, and jackets. Simply stuff the object you want into the enclosed plastic bag, and then use the vacuum to suck out all of the air, condensing the bag into a thin plastic wrap. These bags are great for keeping the quality of your objects intact, as bugs or dirt are unlikely to get in. The Vacuum Storage Bags end up deflating so small, you can practically store them anywhere! And come on, they just look fun to use, right?

Classic Bankers Box

Have you ever seen couples in Rom-Coms eating Chinese takeout off of their moving boxes in their new, big empty living room? Well, they’re most likely using the classic Bankers Boxes, and you can too! These boxes are a staple if you are planning on moving out. Simply order a large bundle on Amazon, and get to work packing! They are super easy to set up (you just have to follow the arrows) and they come in different sizes, too. Banker Boxes come with lids, but feel free to toss them aside and keep the box open. The great thing about these boxes is you can recycle them when you’re done using them.

Oh, and a side tip: Consider labeling your Banker Boxes so you know what you placed inside them. Trust me, this will defiantly come in handy once you begin the laborious task of unpacking

Stack & Pull Box

Hopefully, you have seen the Stack & Pull boxes at least once in your life, but if you haven’t, here you go! They are much stronger than Banker Boxes, and they can be reused for many purposes. Typically, once you’re done moving, you can reuse these boxes to store old clothes, Halloween decorations, or fancy silverware, and keep them in your garage. These Stack & Pull boxes can be (shocker!) stacked easily on top of one another, making them the perfect moving storage item. And, they have latch handles that guarantee the lid stays on, keeping all of your valuables safe.

Dolly

Ok, yes, this is not an item you can use to stuff your clothes in, but it is super handy! Instead of lugging each individual heavy box to the U-Haul truck, you can use a dolly to stack your boxes on top and pull them there. Now, five trips to the car just got narrowed down to one! Definitely worth it, people!

If you’re on a budget…

If you’re on a budget and can’t invest in any new moving storage items, consider using some of these items you may already have handy:

*Empty Plant Pots: If you used to garden and have a bunch of extra empty pots lying around, put them to use! Stuff your pots with bathroom toiletries and any other knickknacks you might have.

*Dresser Drawers: Don’t empty your dresser drawers, use them! Yes, I understand that the whole dresser itself is heavy, so instead, deconstruct your dresser by taking out the drawers (but make sure to keep your clothes in them)! That should save you tons of space!

*Laundry Hamper: Use your laundry hamper as an impromptu Banker’s Box and fill it to the max with any belongings! If you put clothes in there, just remember if they’re clean or dirty!

*Grocery/Trash Bags: This might be a no-brainer, but use any and all grocery bags or trash bags to stuff all of your belongings in.
