Early 2000s Looks That Need To Make A Comeback This Winter

The early 2000s was an interesting time for fashion. When I think of what an early 2000s look is I imagine something bold and flashy. You always wanted to stand out if it was with bright colors or excentric prints or just by a specific type of clothing. Recently there is a resurgence of young adults dressing based on past eras and that includes the early 2000s. From tracksuits to animal print there are so many trends from the early 2000s we are so excited to see be in fashion again. Now the early 2000s is coming back this winter with new or recreated versions of early 2000s looks.

Velvet Tracksuit

If you grew up in this era I’m sure you wanted a juicy couture tracksuit so badly. The matching velvet tracksuit was an extremely popular early 2000s look. You are probably familiar with it if you’ve seen Amy Poehler’s character in Mean Girls as Regina’s cool mom in her iconic pink velvet tracksuit. For this coming winter, the velvet tracksuit is back and even badder than ever with a new cropped top style. There are so many bright colors to choose from when getting a velvet tracksuit you’re really gonna stand out. It’s a great casual look to wear this upcoming winter with a long tank top.

Low Rise Jeans

Low rise jeans are slowly returning for this winter season. I say slowly because the high-waisted jeans are what’s in style right now. Low rise jeans were a popular early 2000s look that you often paired with a cropped top or tight tee-shirt. Now for winter try wearing the lowrise jeans with a tight-fitting sweater or turtle neck and basic belt.

Flashy Belt

What was big in the early 2000s was a lot of accessorizing. The brighter the accessory the better your outfit looked. This winter try getting a flashy or chunky belt to go with your new early 2000s look. By flashy belt, I mean getting a belt with a big belt buckle. You can wear your chunky belt overtop a sweater dress of tee shirt for a more cinched look. More popular in the alternative fashion scene was wearing checkered belts or belts with spikes. Wear the flashy belt with some low rise jeans or over your tight-fitting sweater.

Uggs

Now hear me out, I think Uggs never actually went out of style. Lot’s of people still wear Uggs for the winter because they are really warm and comfortable shoes! The early 2000s was the peak popularity time for Uggs. Go out and get yourself a pair of basic brown Uggs or try out one of their newer styles. I still have my Uggs from years ago that I still use to this day. They are just really comfy and reliable shoes.

Layered Shirt

In the early 2000s what was popular at the time was wearing a tank top over a tee shirt. Today that style has evolved into a layered shirt look. Now girls will wear this look with a tee-shirt over a sweater or a tank top over a turtle neck. For the winter it’s a great look to wear because you’ll already be layering your clothes to keep warm. Try doing this early 2000s look by wearing a graphic tee shirt over your favorite basic turtle neck.

Cropped Cardigans

Cropped cardigans were super big in the early 2000s typically paired with a tank top. Now girls will wear these cropped cardigans by themselves as a shirt. Cropped cardigans are one of the clothing items that are really cute and can be easily worn by anyone. For the wintertime let’s bring it back this early 2000s look by wearing them with a tank top again. Pair them with your favorite lowrise jeans for a classic 2000s throwback look.

All Denim

Live your true Brittany and Justin red carpet moment by bringing back all-denim outfits. There are so many different ways to wear denim. Denim is one of the clothes that are really easy to find at a thrift store. Get a denim jacket and jeans with similar a color for a great jacket jeans combo. Something new that I’ve been seeing is denim dresses and jumpsuit coming back into the fashion realm. Personally, I love wearing my denim dress with a sweater underneath for the wintertime. One great denim look that is the very early 2000s is a long sleeve denim jumpsuit. You can’t go wrong accessorizing it with a denim cap or a scarf around your neck.

Skinny Scarf

The skinny scarf was more used for decorative reasons rather than function during the early 2000s. Now with it’s come back, it has a purpose which is to keep your neck warm during the winter! You can even up this early 2000s look by getting a skinny scarf with an animal print. Since the scarf is skinny you’ll be able to wear it all day since it won’t be uncomfortable like a regular scarf is and is meant to go with your outfit.

Animal Print

From shirts to scarves to even pants animal print was the design of the early 2000s. Specifically cheetah print and zebra print are what is coming back. The best way to wear this early 2000s look is to get a cheetah print shirt with some high waisted pants and a chunky belt. You can easily find lots of animal printed clothing at different clothes stores but it would also be really fun to check your local thrift stores and see what vintage animal print clothes they have. Bring out your inner wild child by wearing animal prints this winter.
