10 TV Series To Get Your Adrenaline Pumping

Having trouble finding something new to watch? I think we all have at this point in 2020. Some of my favorite binge-worthy TV series are ones that get my adrenaline pumping and me gasping whenever something new happens. If you are in the same boat, these ten TV series are perfect for you. So, go watch them right now!  

1. The Haunting of Hill House 

I am a big scaredy-cat when it comes to supernatural movies and TV series, but I also can’t not watch them either, you know? The Haunting of Hill House is the perfect TV series to you get shaking a little with some fear, but it isn’t so scary you have to watch behind a blanket. 

These five siblings spend a summer in a house that seems too good to be true with their parents until it becomes something of their nightmares. As adults, they’ve convinced themselves that the events that happened in the house were all in their heads until the house finds them again and things start to get weird.

Don’t watch this at night if you are extra jumpy. It is a good one though and an easy binge. 

2. Black Mirror

This TV series is definitely one episode a day kind of show. I’m sure most of you have heard of Black Mirror already, but if you haven’t, buckle up for a psychological thriller that will get your brain running like crazy. Each episode explores a new concept within a society such as inserting a chip into your children to track and monitor them.

This TV series with get your heart racing. It seems to take a lot out of me when I watch it and I can only take about one episode a day as I mull over the concepts in my head for a while. 

3. Hannibal

If you were a fan of Hannibal the novel as well as The Silence of The Lambs, you’ll enjoy the TV series, Hannibal. It features murder, cannibalism, and an empathizing criminal profiler. This TV series examines the build-up to Hannibal’s criminal doings while he and the profiler, Will Graham, investigate another serial killer. It’s a nailbiter for sure.

4. Bates Motel 

A lot of these TV series are about serial killers, but those are the best kind right? Bates Motel is another one of those shows, inspired by the 1960 horror film “Psycho”. This TV series explores the years before Norman Bates becomes a serial killer. 

After Norma Bates’s husband dies, she buys a motel in a small and quiet town that seems like a good place to start over. However, as time passes, they find that the town isn’t so quiet after all.

5. The Act 

The Act is a TV series that goes in-depth on the relationship between Dee Dee Blanchard and her daughter Gypsy. This series is on Hulu and features the great actresses Joey King and Patricia Arquette. We are shown Gypsy’s experience of being abused by her mother who was deliberately trying to keep Gypsy ill. After Dee Dee was murdered, some doctors believe she could have been suffering from Munchausen by proxy. It is an interesting take on their story.

6. The Sinner 

Everyone loves a good detective series and The Sinner is a great one to add to the list. It follows Detective Ambrose as he investigates crimes from suspects who have no idea why they did it. It has some great points to think about and there are some very intense scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat. 

The first season explores the crime of Cora Tannetti who cannot explain why she did what she did, but Detective Ambrose insists on digging into her past to find out what is really going on.

7. Dexter 

Another serial killer TV series headed your way. If you haven’t watched it already, add it to your next binge list! This TV series follows a blood splatter expert, Dexter, who ends up being a serial killer. But don’t think he’s the bad guy just yet, you’ll actually be rooting for this guy. 

As the show progresses, it gets more and more intense as Dexter is constantly surrounded by police who have no idea what he’s doing. He’s got to make sure he’s extra careful with his work.

8. Slasher

The Slasher is back, but it isn’t Tom Winston this time. No, it is someone else who has a deadly agenda. Get ready for a gory and thrilling TV series that will get you spilling your popcorn when you jump from scene to scene. Make sure to keep the lights on for this adrenaline-pumping series. 

The series follows Sarah Bennett as she returns to her hometown with her husband to start fresh. However, this town was also the place her parents were killed by someone called “The Executioner”. The town hasn’t changed much, to their surprise, and Sarah finds herself stuck in the middle of a series of murders that seem to be based on the seven deadly sins. Watch out, Sarah!

9. Alias Grace

Based on actual 19th-century events, as well as the 1996 Margaret Atwood novel, this TV series explores the 1843 murder of Grace Marks’s employer and his housekeeper. Grace is an Irish immigrant who lived in Canada. She is examined by a psychiatrist to see whether or not she should be pardoned due to insanity. The series has some pretty thrilling scenes and you’ll be trying to figure out if she should be sentenced or not the entire time.

10. Castle Rock 

Castle Rock is a creepy as TV series but it is so good. This series combines many Stephen King stories, which of course means psychological horror. One of the starring actors in the first season is Bill Skarsgård who is also the It clown in another one of Stephen King’s movie adaptations. 

Welcome to the town of Castle Rock where things really start to get weird and you start to wonder if you are going crazy too. The second season just came out last year! Don’t wait to watch this one.
