Back To School Checklist For College Students

When gearing up to get back to school you want to make sure you have all your essentials! This includes more than just your standard school supplies like note cards, paper, and pencils/pens. You want to be prepared for school with the proper tech as well as style and comfort items. Some of the back to school items on here may be a tad expensive but remember that there are always cheaper alternatives! Anyway, make sure you’re ready to get back to college with this back to school checklist!

1. North Face Backpack

A backpack is an absolutely essential back to school item for any student. You can potentially use the same backpack as the year before, but like with many people, the wear-and-tear of the school year may have left it with holes and in bad condition. Thus, you’re going to be wanting a fresh backpack that not only fits your needs pocket and space-wise but looks good as well. North Face backpacks are a little pricey but for the most part, that’s for good reason. They’re very reliable backpacks made of strong materials that should last you a while. Plus, they have great looks and a variety of styles and colors fitting most people’s preferences.

2. Tablet/Laptop for Note Taking

If you’re going back to school in terms of starting college then you’re going to want either a laptop or tablet (w/ keyboard) for taking notes. Yes, there’s almost no denying that handwriting notes better helps the information get ingrained in your brain and thus helps you learn better overall. However, that’s not going to help you when you’re four or five slides behind the professor as they zoom through their PowerPoint presentation. And again, yes, the “slides are online” may be a fine option to go back and take notes on them later but in my opinion, it isn’t the same. It helps to take notes on what’s on the slide and then also add in the extra information your professor may be talking about on top of it. So unless you’ve got wicked fast handwriting, you’re going to need a laptop or tablet to take notes. The Amazon Fire tablet is a relatively affordable option that gets you a solid tablet for note-taking, reading online textbooks, and more!

3. Disinfectant Cleaning Supplies

If you’re going back to school, especially during these days of COVID-19, you’re going to want some cleaning supplies specifically disinfectants. College is a really easy place to get sick because there are so many different people interacting in various environments. Whether it’s from going to a party or sitting at the same desk in class as a sick person from the class before, it’s really difficult to avoid getting sick. Having a ready supply of cleaning supplies such as Lysol wipes can really help for wiping down your surfaces in your home/dorm or even your desk in class. There’s nothing wrong with being careful and staying healthy so it’s worth spending a little extra money on cleaning supplies.

4. Daily Planner

Although it’s not everyone’s favorite way to keep track, a daily planner can make a big difference in your student life when getting back to school. Especially in college when you have many different classes that run on their own schedules in terms of homework, quizzes, and tests. Not to mention if you’re juggling a part-time job as well then you really want to make sure you’re staying on top of everything. Carry around your daily planner through your day of classes and you can make notes of upcoming quizzes or tests and plan out for when you’ll do the homework that’s due next class. Being more organized with your planning of school work lets you selectively choose weekends where you can relax more and go to parties and such and not be frantically studying and working on Sunday to finish all your assignments for the upcoming week.

5. Portable Charger

If you haven’t found yourself in a situation where you need a charge for your phone or tablet but there just isn’t a way to get one, just wait because it’s coming. Whether it’s for road trips, long days out & about, or especially long days in classes during college, you want a portable way to charge your devices. You won’t always have an outlet to plug into and with a portable charger such as this INIU Power Bank then you won’t have to worry about it. A compact size that holds a big charge so you can recharge your phone and/or tablet multiple times before having to recharge the power bank. It also comes with a convenient flashlight if you’re walking back from the library late at night. When going back to school you’re really going to regret not having a portable charger and being one of those people with a dead phone until you get back home.

6. Memory Foam Pillow

The last of this list of essentials for going back to school is definitely having a comfortable, memory foam pillow. If memory foam doesn’t work for you then there are plenty of other kinds but generally, memory foam pillows are fantastic and well-received. After a long day of classes and tests and such when you’re finally ready for bed, you don’t want to have to sleep on a lumpy or uncomfortable pillow. Your hardworking neck deserves something soft yet firm that won’t leave your neck sore. This Therapedic memory foam pillow is a great choice as it’s got a cut shape that is great for providing neck support. Not only that but it’s made for great ventilation which helps keep you cool. You won’t regret spending a little money to invest in a great pillow such as this when you’re heading back to school!
