Hibernation Mode: Daily Routine For The GirlBoss That’s Stuck At Home
Being quarantined in my home, I have lost track of the day of the week and the time. To keep myself sane I have created a daily routine for the week.
Monday through Friday I have the same daily routine.
1. Wake Up
I wake up every day at the same time, 8:30am. This is about 2 hours later than I used to wake up before the Coronavirus outbreak. I take the changes that have happened with my daily routine, positively. I can wake up later during the week because I don’t have to spend additional time getting ready for work and driving there. I enjoy the extra sleep and the zero commute I have to make to get to work now. I am saving time and money.
2. Get Ready
Though I am not going to be around anyone I still like to make myself presentable. I take this time to brush my teeth, brush my hair, and change my clothes from the night before. Even though I change into another pair of pajamas it feels good to put on fresh clothes. The time it takes getting myself ready is from about 8:35am to 8:50pm. No matter what my situation is, working from home or not, I will always care about my looks and hygiene and make sure they are kept up.
3. Work
I know that many people have lost their jobs due to the Coronavirus pandemic. I am thankful that during this time I can keep my job, I have just been relocated. I now work from home but my shift hours remain the same. I work from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
4. Breakfast
While working from home I still get hungry. I try to control my eating, by not eating too often and too many snacks. This is not easy but I am determined to stay strong. When this Coronavirus has passed I don’t want to return to work with additional weight on me. I usually drink my protein shake at about 11:00am. My drink keeps me full for a few hours after I have drunk it.
5. Lunch
Being home more I can cook more than I order out my food. I enjoy cooking my own meals because I determine the portions and the taste of my meals. I love the control. It’s easy for me to focus on the positive side of cooking my meals because I also save a lot of money. My daily routine with lunch is about 3:00pm. So far I had made spaghetti, cheeseburgers, steak, and pizza. I am looking forward to my future meals.
6. Clean
Cleaning my home has become very relaxing. My daily routine with cleaning starts at about 4:30pm. I chose a room to clean and put about an hour’s worth of work into cleaning it. If I finish it, I clean another room. If I don’t finish cleaning I continue cleaning that section the following day. Since I am cooking more than I used to, there are more dishes to wash. I do that during this time as well. Walking around a clean home feels great. It clears my mind too. I also take this time to wash, dry, or fold clothes.
7. Work Out
As I stated before I don’t want to gain weight when I return to work. It would be great to actually lose weight and be more fit when I return back to work. Part of my daily routine is working out. I work out in my garage from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. I prefer to work out in my garage to have new scenery than inside my home to view. It is also warmer inside so that I can sweat quicker and it makes me feel more like I am at the gym. Part of my work out includes a jog. I jog for about 30 minutes, I love how great it feels to run outdoors than inside a gym on a machine.
8. Shower
I keep up with my hygiene especially since I am workout so much. My daily routine includes a 30-minute shower and the time it takes for me to get prepared for bed. I shower at about 8:00pm. This is relaxing, not do anything and just be totally alone for a few minutes.
9. Dinner
I prepare dinner once I am fresh and clean. I start cooking a little before 9:00pm and usually finish a little after 10:00pm. I put the leftovers to the side and eat them within the next couple of days. I know I should be eating earlier since I am not trying to gain additional weight but I will be making changes to my daily routine soon.
10. Wrap Up
As my night comes to end at about 10:30pm. I ensure that I am ready for the next day. I make sure my work computer is ready to go. Make sure my pajamas are set out for the next morning. I reflect on my day and think about the good things that were involved and even think about what I can do to make the next day better. My nights end with a show or movie from Netflix.
Weekends
My weekends aren’t based around a daily routine like my weekdays. I still do most of what I do during the week, it’s just not set on time. I relax more on the weekends than cleaning and cooking. I stay up later on the weekends since I don’t have to get up early for work. I am really enjoying this time I am spending at home. I use the weekends to go out into the civil world very briefly. I go to the grocery store and stocked up my refrigerator and pantry for the next week to come. My weekends give me time to reset my mind and get mentally and physically prepared for the week ahead.
