The 15 Funniest Movies To Watch With Your SO
Streaming and sexy time is the new “aromatic candles and rose petals.” Humor is a great lubricant for your relationship. Comedies create that involuntary thing called laughter. Fresh relationships—with all of that awkwardness—require something to fill that deafening void of silence. Check out some of the funniest movies to watch with your SO!
1. Deadpool
This is a blue-humor tale of a man seeking to reunite himself with his true love. Deadpool constantly breaks the 4th wall with a barrage of quips. It’s a movie that doesn’t take itself seriously. These innuendo-vibes pass on their energy to you two, vibrating your minds, until you both hit a sensual harmony.
2. Spy Hard & The Naked Gun Trilogy
There are arguably the funniest movies ever made. These slapstick comedies star the late Leslie Nielson. Some people think they’re too good for slapstick. They’re the same people who shun free food samples. With these puppies in your possession, you can have hours of slapstick-themed fornication.
3. The Lego Movie
If you want to watch a movie that’s lighthearted and clean, then this is it. Lego movies are amazing.
4. Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgandy
Will Ferrell plays Ron Burgandy: a 1970s, misogynistic anchorman—for Channel 4 News—who can’t cope with having a female co-anchor. They have everything from a musical number to a bear. Steve Carell’s character Brick is the most fascinating person in this movie.
5. The Hangover
The premise of this movie doesn’t seem like something you should joke about on a first date. It’s a story about three men remembering their past, seeking their friend, and having some kooky adventures along the way. You only need to watch one in order to see all three, and the first one is the best.
6. Shaun Of The Dead
This zombie-movie spoof has a huge cult following. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have what it takes to write and create a comedic masterpiece. The amount of skill required to pull off the choreographed comedy moves is intense. The comedy always seems to be attached to the environment around it, bringing the viewer closer to the jokes.
7. Hot Fuzz
Imagine the best American comedy films that you’ve seen in the last 5-10 years. The difference between a Wright-directed film and those is that Wright doesn’t waste potentially comedic moments. Slapstick is sewn in perfectly throughout this film.
8. Dumb And Dumber
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels make one of the funniest comedies ever. There’s literally a scene where the protagonists are frozen together with pee. The gags in this film are stupid and amazing.
9. The Rise and Fall of Leslie Vernon
You’re both watching this one ironically. This is a found-footage mockumentary of a reporter interviewing an unknown serial killer on how he has ascended to the virtuosity level of Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers. Sex is the motif of this story. This is a movie for a relationship that can stand the test of awkward humor.
10. Superbad
This is probably the best movie about high-school virgins trying to get laid. There is an entire segment devoted to obsessive dick-pic drawings, one of which is a Tiananmen Square reference. This movie is thankfully not cemented in the time period that it was filmed.
11. Step Brothers
The premise starts off in weird territory: two immature adults—one under the roof of a divorced parent and the other living with a widowed parent—are forced to live with one another when those parents get married. The surreal dialogue and characters are what makes this is one of the funniest movies of all time. The blooper reel adds an entirely different element to the amount of improv that went into making this film.
12. Elf
Each December, every hour, this movie is played, at minimum, hundreds of times. There are Christmas comedies and timeless Christmas comedies. This is a timeless Christmas comedy.
13. Men In Black
I would suggest a more recent sequel if they were any good. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones’ characters are different enough to generate comedy, solely from them trying to interact with one another. Also, aliens.
14. Tropic Thunder
This is one of the funniest movies of all time. The over-the-top characters paired with a hilarious plot make this a great film. This movie has an interesting critique of method acting. It manages to pull off something extraordinarily-not-politically correct—something that It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (somehow) also pulled off.
15. Ted
You and your SO are both stony weeders looking for a film to “torch” to. You want a film where you get to hear Mark Wahlberg talk to a CGI stuffed bear. Here it is, in all its glory.
