5 Hangover Cures That Will Save Your Life
Sunday morning already hey? Your head is pounding, your stomach is making all sorts of weird noises, and you’re desperate for some hangover cures. Although there isn’t much science behind any hangover cures, this list will make your groggy morning that much easier to overcome after a long night of copious amounts of alcohol. Here we go!
1. Brunch with the crew
SUNDAY BRUNCH! Although this hangover cure might be hard to organize, with half the people you went out with being passed out or completely MIA, is you get it done right it can be a lifesaver. It gets you moving and out of the house, instead of just laying there all day regretting those 12 jager bombs you did at 3AM. It’s also a great opportunity to link with your friends and discuss all the shenanigans you did while enjoying a delicious eggs benny. MORE HOLLANDAISE!
2. Hair of the dog
A classic. Hair of the dog is a common phrase referring to an alcoholic drink in the morning after a night of drinking. If you’re not already on the caesar or mimosa train, you need to reevaluate yourself. Something about a tasty drink in the morning just seems to ease the pain. I would stick to either of the drinks just mentioned, I wouldn’t be slamming back tequila shots first thing in the morning. Be careful with this one though, the last thing you would want to do is find yourself drunk at 2PM and having to relive your hangover later that evening. My goodness, 2 hangovers in one day? What could be worse…
3. Kombucha
This one might be a tough one for some people as it seems to be an acquired taste. BUT if you’re willing to try it, it may do wonders. Kombucha is a fermented tea loaded with anti-oxidants. The anti-oxidants help detox your liver, which it’s going to need after the massacre it underwent last night. It’s also great for the gut if you drink it on a regular basis. So give kombucha a try, you just might like it!
4. Gatorade
This is one of the all-time go-to hangover cures. An ice-cold (preferably blue) Gatorade first thing in the morning feels so right. It is loaded with electrolytes to help re-hydrate your body after a long night out without water. The best part about this one is that it’s the most accessible. Just go to your nearest convenience shop and stock up on these bad boys so you can feel energized every time you go out and are having a rough morning. You might as well buy yourself a mini-fridge for your room or dorm and be fully stocked for whenever you need them. They also make a great chaser for alcohol if you’re looking to go for round 2 the next night…
5. Exercise
This might literally be the LAST thing you want to do once you wake up, but it will surely save you. Exercising helps get the blood flowing and will wake you up! Like brunch, it will get you out of the house, or out of bed if you have a killer home workout. The first 10 minutes might feel like your body absolutely hates you, but once you get over the hump the rest of your day will be golden. A quick run, a little weight lifting, or even some soothing yoga, whatever your go-to exercise may be will make you feel like a new person and help get over that awful hangover.
