1. Drink Water

I really can’t emphasize this enough. Drinking water before and after each meal is so important to staying hydrated but also boosting your metabolism. This is such an easy step to forget, but its also super easy to get in the habit of doing. Soon, you won’t even have to think about it and will be a hydration queen! Squeeze some lemon or lime in your water to add extra flavor.

2. Break A Sweat

Working out and pushing yourself is key to boosting your metabolism. If you never break a sweat during your workouts, you aren’t working hard enough! When you push your body to achieve more than normal, that’s when you start manipulating your metabolism. Just don’t push yourself too much and know your limits!

3. Fuel Your Body

If you don’t give your body the right nutrients to thrive, your metabolism will suffer greatly because of it. If you really want to boost your metabolism, eat small, frequent meals. I’m talking eating a healthy snack every 2-3 hours to keep your body constantly burning off calories. Yes, that’s right! I’m telling you to eat more often! Trust me on this one.

4. Drink Coffee/Green Tea

Drinking coffee or green tea in the morning will give your metabolism a little wake-up boost. Yes, caffeine is healthy in moderate amounts. And if you are sensitive to caffeine, drink green tea instead, it has much less caffeine when compared with black coffee. Aim to drink one cup of coffee or tea per day, so you don’t overdo it and crash later on. Drink up buttercup!

5. Get Enough Sleep

If your body doesn’t get enough rest, your brain and metabolism will be affected. Make sure you are getting eight to nine hours of sleep every night. I know this may be hard, but try going to bed an hour earlier than normal, and you will feel the difference. Plus, who doesn’t love a good night’s sleep?

6. Eat Plenty of Protein

Don’t deprive yourself of necessary nutrients! Your body needs protein to feel fuller and sustain energy over long periods of time. Incorporate protein-rich foods like eggs, chicken, salmon, greek yogurt, and nuts to your diet. Your body will thank you and your metabolism will flourish. Eat that protein!

7. Don’t Crash Diet

If you follow anything on this list, please follow this. Don’t go on a crazy juice cleanse to lose a few pounds because chances are, you’re just gonna gain it all back. Crash dieting essentially means starving yourself, and that is extremely detrimental to your metabolism. Eat whole, clean foods that will fill you up, like grilled chicken, fish, brown rice, leafy greens, etc.

8. Eat Breakfast

If you don’t eat breakfast, it will harm your metabolism for the rest of the day. Skipping meals, in general, is never good for your metabolism. Eating regularly, especially to start off the day is a great habit to practice. Plus, breakfast is like the best meal of the day, there are so many possibilities. Choose from eggs, oatmeal, avocado toast and smoothies. It will give your body the energy it needs to conquer the day!

9. Boost Your Metabolism: Spend Time Outside

Spending time in nature and soaking up all the Vitamin-D you can get is such a great way to boost your energy and metabolism. Not only does getting enough sun exposure increase the production of serotonin in the brain, but it makes you glow from the inside out.
