Why You Should Visit Michigan In The Fall
If you have never been to Michigan, you need to come see this state in the fall when all of the trees are painted gorgeous colors. Michigan is often overlooked as a must visit state, but it shouldn’t be. This state has so much to offer all year round, but there’s something magical about Michigan in the fall that you really need to experience – here’s why.
1. The scenery is absolutely stunning – seriously
I don’t know if you knew this or not, but Michigan is probably one of the most spectacular places in the fall. Once the leaves change color, the entire atmosphere changes; it’s pretty magical. You get to see the beauty no matter where you are – in a city, a suburb, a small town, everywhere, even on the highway. Once Fall starts, you can feel it in the air. The temperature is perfect for all the best fall fashion, being outside is more fun because the temperature is basically perfect for activities, and the trees are super Instagram-worthy.
2. The nights are perfect for bonfires and star gazing (mostly if you’re not in a city)
Fall is the best time for bonfires because the summer heat has died down and the warmth from the fire is actually comforting instead of excessive. I can’t tell you how many bonfires I’ve sat around with friends and family in the fall, enjoying each others company and enjoying the best “seasonal” treats. If you like the not too chilly, crisp fall air, and bonfire settings, you need to experience Michigan in the fall.
Another great thing about fall nights in Michigan is that when it gets closer to Halloween, there are so many haunted attractions. I know every state has haunted stuff during October, but if you want the full haunted fall experience, Michigan is a great place to go in the fall.
3. The air screams fall, and that makes Michigan the perfect place to go apple picking, drink cider, and all the fall things
Other than bonfires, Michigan has so many fun things to do in the fall. You can go apple picking, go on hayrides, take tours, go to a brewery, go to an apple orchard for the cider and donuts, walk around the cities and towns; there are different festivals and events that happen only in the fall, like Art Prize in Downtown Grand Rapids.
4. We have lakes, and even in the fall they are gorgeous and enjoyable
The change of colors in the fall reflecting on the water is a sight to see. If you come to Michigan in the fall, you need to visit one of the great lakes. There’s nothing more peaceful than sitting by the water and listening to the waves, but in the fall the colors are stunning to see.
5. Cities in the fall – the season is not lost on them
Just because Michigan’s cities aren’t ginormous like New York City, or Chicago for that matter, doesn’t mean our cities aren’t also amazing. I grew up in Grand Rapids and that city has a ton to offer in the fall – but there’s also Lansing, Detroit, Petoskey, Holland, Traverse City, Ann Arbor, and so many other great cities to visit any time, including Fall, that also have so many things to do in the fall.
6. Did I mention the scenery – it’s EVERYWHERE and it’s gorgeous
Seriously. Michigan is absolutely stunning in the fall. You know you want to come and take super cute Instagram photos with gorgeous, colorful trees.
