5 Things To Wear During The Summer To Keep Your Alternative Fashion

Are you the all-black wearing, wouldn’t be caught wearing pastels kind of girl? Or, a guy that will never be caught dead in navy cargo shorts and a polo? Then you know that summer is a tough time to be into alternative fashion, with the sun blaring on you it can feel like you are being roasted alive. So, here are five ways to keep your alternative fashion in during the summer.

1. Accessorize

Ladies, you will know all about this one, but men who are into alternative fashion usually know a things or two about accessorizing an ensemble as well. When the California heat reaches over 100 degrees, no one wants to wear much of anything but a tank top and shorts. But, if you still want to keep your alternative flair, then use a few simple accessories to do the trick. Women, you can add a black choker, or a chain necklace and bracelet, or earrings that you feel encompass your style. Guys, many of you have piercings and jewelry too, so add a cool pair of stud earrings, or a wrist cuff to give your outfit that added touch.

*Disclaimer: If wearing anything to the beach, make sure to take them off for a while, or you may be left with some odd tan lines!

3. Go Heat-less

Ditch the curling iron, flat iron, and blow dryer. Instead, stick to natural looks that allow your hair to air dry and curlers that you can sleep in so you aren’t using a hot iron. Or, put your hair up while wet, and let it dry in whatever style you choose. You can do space buns, a single bun, one long braid, two french braids, or whatever you feel that day. Just style while wet and your hair will take longer to dry, that way, your head will stay cool in the heat. And, if you want that cool feeling later on, just have a little squirt bottle handy to spritz your hair with when you start feeling the heat!

In the summer heat, long colored extensions, or fancy hairpieces will just feel like extra heat. So, take a risk and get a new do that is able to cool you off and make you look you great. A mo-hawk, half-shaved scalp, pixie cut, or a fully shaved head will all make you feel like you are showing off your alternative fashion sense. And, if you can’t go too extreme, because of work regulations then you can sneak it in with an under-shave that can easily be covered when your hair is down.
