1. Sedona, Arizona

Everyone has heard of the Grand Canyon, right? If you haven’t then you must live under a rock. It’s one of nature’s most beautiful spots not just in the country, but in the world. Well, Sedona is just a couple hours south of that with just as much to offer! The scenery in Sedona, Arizona has known to be so beautiful that sometimes visitors will end up spending most of their days there instead of the Canyon. It’s great for hikes at any time, but is definitely for the more experienced adventurers. We dare you to go check it out!

2. Denali National PArk & Preserve, Alaska

If you’re looking for a place of pure, untouched, natural beauty, then Denali is the place to go. Sure, it might be weird taking a trip to Alaska in the middle of the Summer. Usually it’s the opposite way, but we assure you that you will not regret it. Denali is definitely a top pick for our underrated destinations. It’s literally 6 million acres of wilderness. Just make sure you don’t cross paths with the enormous moose out there!

3. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan

Oh, Michigan. The Great Lakes state. It is a one-of-a-kind place and it sure celebrates its country living out there. Lake Superior, one of the most infamous lakes in the country, is home to sandstone cliffs on the beach that will take your breath away. It’s amazing! If you’re looking for a somewhat tropical feel that’s a little closer to home, then this should be at the top of your bucket list for underrated destinations!

4. Glacier National Park, Montana

Montana mountains and forests are a hiker’s dream. There are over 700 miles of trails for all of you adventurers to enjoy, and while it might not be the most tropical of places, Glacier is absolutely one of the most beautiful. It’s known as “America’s Switzerland”. Try canoeing down the rivers and lakes to take in all the breath-taking sights!

5. Mackinac Island, Michigan

Back to Michigan we go! Who knew there were so many beautiful, underrated destinations in such a close state. Right on Lake Huron is this very peaceful island. Due to certain regulations, no motor vehicles are allowed which makes for an even more peaceful area. The Grand Hotel is an incredible structure and a great place to spend the night. Also, chocolate lovers, this one is for you! Mackinac Island has an abundance of fudge production and the place is overflowing.

6. The Outer Banks, North Carolina

The Outer Banks are gorgeous. What’s even better is that it’s one of those underrated destinations that’s never crowded, so you’ll be able to enjoy your vacation in peace. The beaches there are incredibly beautiful and the small towns that reside the land are just adorable. It’s everything cute and quirky and fun that you would love in a mini-vacation. Beach bums, welcome!

7. Big Sur, California

You probably weren’t expecting California to be on our list of underrated destinations considering how popular of a state it is year round, but here we are! A lot of people trample to L.A. and huge popular cities like that, but Big Sur is just as awesome. It has gorgeous remote beaches that live up to and beyond the California standard that you are more than welcome to camp out on. Also, there are plenty of state parks along the way too so you can get your fill of sight-seeing as well.

8. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Beaches, beaches, and more beaches. We bet you had no idea there were so many in the US did you? Delaware is such a small state, and Rehoboth has such a small community. This is one of the underrated destinations that seem specifically designed for girl time! There is great outlet shopping all up and down the beach, and some of the best Summer food you can find! 9. Asheville, North Carolina

North Carolina is full of that southern charm. Asheville is full of that hippie charm. That’s the greatest combination ever! This city has everything you could ever want. For the more outdoorsy folk, there are hiking trails, swimming holes, and mountains to climb. For the stay-local crowd there is tons of outlet shopping, great musicians, and downtown is always so alive! We’re actually surprised that this is on the underrated destinations list. It’s amazing!

10. Falmouth, Massachusetts

Of course Massachusetts was going to make it’s way on this list one way or another. Thank you to the Cape! Falmouth is another one of those hardly known charming beach towns. It’s great for relaxing in the sun, swimming, shopping, eating, you name it! We can’t think of a reason not to head over!
