The Bean
Formally known as ‘Cloud Gate’ and located directly in Millennium Park, the bean was born in May 0f 2006. Hundreds of tourists visit the amazing visual spectacle everyday. Even locals and people from the suburbs wouldn’t miss a chance to get a glimpse of the bean. This is an absolute MUST see when searching for the perfect photo-0p. It’s reflective outer shield gives a sort of fish eye view of the massive towering buildings near by.
Navy Pier
Jammed packed with activities, games, sights and great food, Navy Pier could fill an entire day of exploring which makes it another MUST on the list of things to do in Chicago. Navy Pier is mostly famous for it’s towering Ferris wheel which gives a spectacular view of Chicago and was originally built in 1893. There are rumors that the Ferris wheel is to be remodeled and made taller than it stands now. There is more carnival like games as you walk along the pier as well as gift shops and restaurants. Beyond the outside activities is a breathtaking indoor botanical garden where many wedding celebrations are held as well as more gift shops and places to grab a bite to eat. It’s safe to say that allowing a full day for a Navy Pier visit is a good idea.
Eat Deep Dish Pizza
Chicago is known for is Chicago-style pizza, better known as deep dish style. Deep dish pizza is often reported to be born in Chicago around 1943 at a local pizzeria. The deep dish style is known for it’s high edge crust which holds in a larger amount of cheese and topped with chunky tomato sauce and toppings of your choice. While there are many deep dish spots in Chicago to choose from, one that constantly receives high praise is Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria and is said to be as described as “the home of the best deep dish in Chicago”. Stretching for 13 blocks, the Magnificent Mile is home to more than 460 retailers including luxury designers and labels, shopping centers, popular brands and department stores. Be sure to wear your comfy shoes and prepare to shop until you drop! Whether you are shopping for yourself, others, or souvenirs for friends, North Michigan Avenue is the place to head to during your visit.
Visit The Willis Tower Skydeck
Known as “The best view of Chicago”. 1,353 feet high and 103 floors up, this is definitely a sight to see and one of Chicago’s most famous tourists attractions. Learn all about the history of the tower and other spots in the city on the way up while you wait and be prepared for your ears to pop multiple times during the elevator ride…. But trust me, the view is breathtaking and well worth it!
