How March Madness Almost Ruined My Relationship

The 10 Most Romantic Cities To Visit With Your Partner

March Madness is the ultimate craze that almost destroyed my relationship. For three weeks out of the month, my life turned upside down. Keep reading to find out how March Madness Almost Ruined My Relationship.

1. Preparation

The days leading up to the national college basketball championship are stressful. For three weeks out of the year, my partner will talk non-stop about this great sports event. With the start of the games approaching my fiance would fill out his bracket. Occasionally asking me for advice. I don’t consider myself a sports fan however I do try my best to help forecast the teams.

2. Week One

Week one of three, went rather smoothly at first. We set up a system where dinner was made right before the start of the game. That way we didn’t miss one bit of it. With this competition overwhelmingly invading our household, our date nights were cut short, and even rescheduled because of the importance my partner put on the games. By the end of the week, his main teams were still in the running. This meant for a cause of celebration that weekend.

3. Week Two

Again, week two was starting out okay. That was bound to change mid-week. By this time his favorite team was out of the running. My nights usually consisted of making dinner myself, and cuddling with my furry friend. On Thursday, I had great news. I got a raise at work and wanted to celebrate. However, I didn’t expect my night to end up in disappointment. I came home and put on my sexiest lingerie expecting to get a warm welcome. Instead I received a call stating that he’ll be at a friends and no to wait up since he had Friday’s off. Let’s just say that weekend did not go well.

4. Week Three

I was fed up by this point. I knew this last week would be the end of this sports craze. Over the course of the weekend we fought. It seemed as if my partner’s obligations were shrouded with the emergence of the national college championship. Our conversations seemed to revolve around the games, and I knew not to speak to him while it was on. I did once and was blamed for missing an importance piece of game-play.

5. Aftermath

Although, the winners weren’t what we had expected the final game was pleasant. He surprised me with a nice dinner, and that night we enjoyed watching the game together. The next day, we spoke about setting up rules when March Madness is near. By setting up boundaries it allowed us to both enjoy the game, and spend time with one another. I suggest talking with your partner before big games like this. Over time, I grew lots of animosity towards my partner, and in turn was ready to call it quits. I felt unappreciated, and that’s the worst feeling. Talk with your partner to avoid the experiences I went through.
