5 Party Ideas So Good Your Guests Will Never Want To Leave
Planning to throw the biggest party this year? Whether your birthday is just around the corner or you’re planning pre-drinks at yours this weekend, you’ll want everyone to remember your place as the flat they want to be at for the next party. So, no more red solo cups and beer kegs, we’ve got the best party ideas to have people talking about the night for weeks!
1. Strawberry Champagne Shots
Vodka and lemonade? No, thank you. Try something a little more exciting and swap regular drinks for a much fancier way to get drunk. The night before your party, get a punnet of strawberries and a bottle of champagne (or relatively cheap prosecco, if you’re looking for something a little more in-the-prince-range). Stick the strawberries in a bowl, pour the champagne over the top, and leave them to soak overnight. By the time your party rolls around, you’ll have a bowl full of deliciously boozy strawberries perfect to get you tipsy in the classiest way.
2. Vodka Watermelon
This one is pretty simple, and it looks really cool at a party too. Basically, you’ll need a whole watermelon and a lot of alcohol. Stick your watermelon on a flat surface and make sure it’s stable (without cutting through to the inside, you might want to shave off a bit of the watermelon on the bottom so that it has a flat surface to rest on).
Cut out two bottle-top sized holes in the top of the fruit, one at each end, using a small knife – and make sure you get right through the skin. Then, take two bottles of vodka and stick them very carefully upside-down into the watermelon so that the alcohol starts to seep in. It normally takes about 24 hours for all the drink to get into the fruit, so you could always make it your centre-piece for the beginning of the night before slicing it up and eating it later on!
3. Orange-Slice Jelly Shots
These will be the prettiest thing at your party, we promise. All you need to do is get a few oranges, cut them in half and scoop out the inside. Mix up a few packets of jelly, following the instructions but replacing half of the water with alcohol of your choice. Fill up the empty orange halves with the mix (pro tip: using a muffin tin to keep the orange halves steady can be a massive help) and stick them in the fridge to set.
When they’re ready, slice the oranges into wedges and serve on a plate! If you wanted to do a few different flavours, you can always do a few different jelly mixes layered on top. Plus, if you’ll have a few people at the party who don’t drink, you can easily make the alcohol-free versions of these. This is one of our favorite party ideas!
4. Booze-Inspired Cupcakes
Okay, we know this one might be a little obvious, but there are plenty of amazing cupcake ideas out there with alcohol infusions. They might not have much alcohol in them, but they taste amazing, and you can’t have a party without cake! Our favourites are the White Russian cupcakes with Vodka and Kahlua, and these Gin and Tonic cupcakes that turn the classic drink into something even those guests with the sweetest tooth will love.
5. Tipsy Ice Lollies
Who doesn’t love ice lollies? Perfect for taking you back to your childhood, these frozen cocktails are not just delicious but really cool (pun intended!) as well. Mix up your favourite cocktail, and make enough of it to fill a pitcher. Then, take an ice lolly mould and pour in the cocktail mix until the mould is half full.
Freeze the first half until it’s relatively frozen, it doesn’t have to be solid, before popping in any decorations – lemon and lime slices, cucumber, mint, or anything else you can think of. Fill up your lollies with the cocktail mix on top of the decorations, stick your popsicle stick in, and set them back in the freezer. When they come out, you can sprinkle them with lemon and lime zest or sugar for a little extra touch, or just serve them how they come. This is one of the best party ideas!
